Converting measures

When dividing a decimal by 100, we shift the decimal point 2 places to the left. 005.3 ÷ 100 = 0.053 When multipying a decimal by 1 000, we shift the decimal point 3 places to the right. 1.200 × 1 000 = 1 200

Check:

(a) 4.392 × 100

(b) 0.23 × 1000

(c) 591.3 ÷ 100

(d) 82 ÷ 1000

Carl’s height is 132 cm. What is his height in metres?
