Comparing and ordering numbers

1 We can use place value to help compare and order numbers. Which number is greater? First we compare the hundreds. 4 hundreds is smaller than 5 hundreds. So, 482 is the smallest number. Next, we compare the tens of the remaining numbers. 7 0 2 3 9 8 5 5 4

9 tens is greater than 3 tens. So, 590 is the greatest number. We can order the numbers from smallest to greatest as:
