Unit 17 – Shapes and angles
Here are three 2-D shapes.
3
Find and list different 3-D objects in the classroom or school building with circles, squares or rectangles as faces.
4 Make a pattern with 10 solid shapes so that:
Shapes in the odd positions have curved faces. Shapes in the even positions have 8 vertices.
The shape in the 10th position has all square faces. The shape in the 7th position has two circular faces. The shape in the 3rd position has no flat faces. Record the names of the 10 shapes in order.
E
Carl makes a model with 6 cubes on the table. How many faces, edges and vertices can Carl see when he walks around his model? Work with a partner. Use 6 cubes each time. Find a way to make a model so that: (a) The greatest number of faces can be seen. (b) The fewest number of faces can be seen.
