Representing and comparing deciaml numbers
1 Riana folds a piece of paper into 10 equal parts. She colours one of the parts.
We can write one-tenth as the fraction 1/10 . We can also write one-tenth as a decimal number:
0.1
This number tells us how many tenths there are.
Whole number part
This dot is called a decimal point. It separates the whole number from the decimal part.
