Task 1: Using a set of polygon cards, find the triangles. Which triangles have no lines of symmetry, one line of symmetry and three lines of symmetry? Why do no triangles have two lines of symmetry? Task 2: Using a set of polygon cards, find all the quadrilaterals. Which quadrilaterals have no lines of symmetry, one line of symmetry, two lines of symmetry and four lines of symmetry? Why do no quadrilaterals have three lines of symmetry? Task 3: Sort the different polygons into two sets: regular polygons and irregular polygons. Identify the lines of symmetry and order of rotation for each figure. What do you notice about the number of lines of symmetry and the order of rotation of the regular compared to the irregular polygons?
