Calendars Let’s Learn Together

Leon is looking at his calendar. It is 1 January 2018. His uncle arrives on 23 March. How many days until Leon’s uncle arrives? Let’s draw a timeline of the problem.

1 January

1 February

23 days 1 March 23 March

31 days

28 days

We can see that the duration of days from 1 January to 23 March is: 31 days + 28 days + 23 days 31 + 28 + 23 = 82 So, Leon’s uncle will arrive in 82 days. Let’s Practise

Use the calendar to help you answer the questions. (a) Today is 23 October. Winston has

planted some bulbs that should start to show in four weeks. On what date should Winston see his plants?

(b) Letisha’s auntie is visiting on 19 June, which is 2 weeks and 2 days from today. What is today’s date?
