Module 2: Amplifying Authentic Engagement Through Influence Unit 3: LinkedIn Groups for Endorsements, Teaming, and Outreach
A logical starting point in this process is to find professional associations serving your industry that may regularly attract your industry’s thought leaders as event hosts or other dialog facilitators in position to notice your contributions.
• Active membership size • Active presence of subject matter experts offering instructional or insightful content as measured by comments and likes • Relevance of the group objective to SME topics conducive to your endorseable skill objectives • Periodic hosting of expert panels in LinkedIn Live • Opportunity to be noticed (some groups are too large to be noticed in the feed) Slide #2: Endorsable Skill Candidates This next step is far more iterative (see Appendix B for fitness example) in that it requires a back-and-forth search from (1) who shows in the LinkedIn search bar under commonly used terms for your profession to (2) what skills listed in their profiles seem to attract the most endorsers described as “highly skilled in this.” The iterative process led to the selection of these terms for our top endorsement skills (as per Slide #2):
As shown in the Endorsable Skill and Group Discovery process below (for use in Slides 1 and 2 of the project), enlisting high-valued endorsements from recognized prominent leaders in our industries starts with a rationale for selecting the right (1) skills to endorse, (2) groups to join, and (3) thought leaders to entice for endorsements. Slide #1: Network Group Candidates for Peer Endorsements As exemplified in the fitness example below, the screening of professional networks worth joining for endorsement enlisting should consider the:
• Personal training • Fitness training • Fitness • Functional fitness
