We tend to find out what we’re passionate about at various stages in life. Some of my friends didn’t find it until high school, college, or even after. As for me, I got lucky in one of the most unfortunate ways. During elementary school, while enjoying the fun activities in gym class, I suffered a pretty bad shoulder dislocation. It was a painful and scary moment for me as a child. Ultimately, it took surgery to fix my shoulder. The process was grueling, but I was lucky enough to have some amazing sports physical therapists in my corner. Their work helped me return to physical activities and sports, and they also helped me avoid additional surgery and stay active into adulthood. After that experience, I had a clear direction of what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to help patients get back to full function. I wanted to help people in the same way that I was helped. In pursuit of that goal, I attended the University of New England in Maine. It was a great school, and I met a lot of amazing people there. Of all the

people I met there, however, only a few of us pursued a career in physical therapy. In college, I wanted to make sure I was making the most of my time. I took three clinical internships. My time at the New England Baptist Hospital, in particular, was especially memorable. This hospital is well known in the area for their joint replacement and spine surgery. The experience I got there was worth its weight in gold. I had the opportunity to really see a patient's full journey from the operating room to walking pain-free. When I found a home at Achieve Physical Therapy, I was able to utilize those experiences to give my patients exceptional care. Prior knowledge and experience like that gives us a chance to reassure our patients on what to expect after surgery as well, which can put them at ease and make a world of difference in the rehab process. We take our patients full circle at Achieve Physical Therapy. It’s not just these experiences that make Achieve such a great environment for our staff and our

clients. We also really get to know our clients as people. Over the course of their time with us, they become part of our work family. We enjoy getting to know them and they enjoy getting to know us. This gives us a chance to listen to their needs and make sure their goals are incorporated into their treatment as well. We build a special bond with our clients and encourage them to keep in touch after “graduation day” so we can keep track of their progress and be easily accessible if future questions or concerns arise. I hope this has given you some insight into my journey to Achieve Physical Therapy and how my experience, and the experience of our other staff members, results in a better service for our patients. At Achieve Physical Therapy, we’re dedicated to listening to your concerns and working with you to create a customized, pain-free path to recovery.
