Enjoy power and control from the baseline WILSON CLASH 100 v2

T he Wilson Clash was launched three years ago and has become a bedrock o the manuacturer’s range. Wilson say their new version o the Clash 100 is designed to bend with maximum lexibility and stability on impact, giving players o all skill levels and styles “more on-court conidence”. They also say the grommet construction “provides a consistent, more orgiving string bed response while dramatically increasing the sweet spot”. We asked three players with contrasting styles to test the racket. Finley, a “baseline grinder” who has been playing or 20 years, already uses the Wilson Blade. Ella, who describes hersel as an aggressive baseliner, has 18 years o playing experience and currently plays with the Babolat AeroPro Team. Joe, who uses the Babolat Pure Aero, is an all-court player with 15 years’ experience. Both Finley and Ella spoke positively about the racket’s perormance on their ground strokes. Finley was able to generate plenty o spin and appreciated the racket’s power and control, while Ella said: “This Wilson elt similar to my current Babolat, so it elt very natural and comortable or me. I was able to get good power, good control and direction on the ball.” However, Joe said he ound the racket dicult to control on his ground strokes, a problem which he also encountered on his volleys. “I had to ocus hard to hit the ball clean,” he said. “Even when I did eel

like I was connecting it didn’t eel as natural as I would have hoped.” All three testers thought the racket perormed well on smashes, while Ella and Finley also enjoyed volleying with it. Ella said she elt able to “hit the ball exactly where I wanted to every time”, while Finley ound the racket “orgiving” on volleys. He thought it would particularly suit a doubles player when under attack at the net. The verdict on serves was similarly positive. Finley generated plenty o power on lat serves, as well as “kick and spin” when he wanted it. Ella enjoyed “really good control, power and direction” on her serves, though Joe said he struggled to generate much spin on his second serves. In conclusion, Joe elt the racket was not ideal or an all-court player, but both Finley and Ella loved it and thought it suited their game styles. Finley said it was “deinitely more o a baseline racket”, while Ella described it as “a good racket or an aggressive baseliner”.
