The new Yonex VCORE Pro 97 also uses technology in its rame which, according to the manuacturer, gives “precise control o the ball”. They also say the thicker rame gives extra stability,
thought the Yonex VCORE Pro 97 had more volleying power than his Babolat Pure Drive, but stressed the importance o inding the sweet spot on smashes. All three testers thought the racket perormed well when they hit lat serves, but Austin struggled to get his kick serve going. Julian again thought that a key to serving with the racket was inding the sweet spot. What style o player did our testers think the racket would suit? Julian thought it would be best or a serve-and-volley player, “someone who is trying to hit the ball latter, earlier and wants to come in”. However, Austin said the racket would better suit “someone with good timing on the ball, is willing to stay in the rallies and stay at the baseline”. Sue was the most positive o the three. “I you want to try and control the ball in court and get to the net, then this Yonex is a good racket,” she said. To test these claims we put a Yonex VCORE Pro 97 in the hands o three testers. Julian, who describes himsel as a hacker, has been playing or 45 years and currently uses an older version o the Babolat Pure Drive. Sue, a baseline grinder “with volleying aspirations”, has been playing or 30 years and usually plays with a Mantis 300. Austin, who likes to inish the point at the net, has been playing or 15 years and currently uses a Babolat Pure Drive 2020. Austin enjoyed the Yonex VCORE Pro 97’s control on his ground strokes, but struggled to generate much power. Julian had trouble hitting top spin, but “i you hit slice or lat it’s ine, you can control it well”. Sue liked the racket’s control and its “solid hitting”. Sue also enjoyed the racket’s power on her volleys and smashes, as did Austin, though he ound it important to hit smashes out o the middle. Julian
