GOD’S UNEXPECTED BLESSING The story of our 1300 mile trek from Dixon, IL to Alamogordo, NM, based on our daily diary. It is our hope and prayer that the way God helped us through our experi- ences will be an encouragement to you. We are just plain ordinary people that the Lord reached down and pro- vided for, protected, and helped in many wondrous ways. This poem was written for me by Hadassah as my Father’s Day gift the year after our walk ended. There was no money for gifts and as Hadassah was praying about what she could do for me that would be special, the Lord gave her this poem. It gives a brief overview of the Lord’s blessings and the hardships we experienced. It Would Have Been Tough Without You, Lord We started out in Illinois On a sunny Fourth of July, Thankful to You for cool, dry air, And a sunny, cloudless sky. By the time we reached Missouri Our legs were swollen and sore. Thanks for the ride, cross the river wide, To the opposite, beckoning shore. We’d spent two weeks of walking Through humid heat and nagging pain, And now the decision must be made, Should we start out walking again. We had eleven hundred miles to go, And we questioned if we could make it. Would winter catch us unprepared, And could our bodies take it? With determination and a will That only came from You, we set our course toward Kansas, Knowing You'd see us through. Thank You, Lord, for the people Who crossed our path each day, Bringing everything we needed To see us on our way. And thank You, Lord, for protection, And a campsite every night, And for the angels that caught the beer cans, That were thrown just out of spite. Six weeks crossing Kansas Was a long and weary time, But your blessings flowed as we trudged the road toward the Oklahoma line. Perplexed describes the way we felt When we sensed the walk was over. Whatever Your purpose, it was fulfilled When we crossed the Kansas border. And then you started sending rides, and though we were grateful for it, we questioned, “Why?” Your quick reply: “Because you were willing to walk it.” When we reached the plateaus of New Mexico The seasons began to change; The nights grew cold and harsh winds blew Across the open range.

We thank you for this mission, Lord; For the joy and the pain and the tears; For the lessons we learned and the memories That we'll cherish the rest of our years. And thank You, Lord, for Shiloh, Our faithful traveling friend; Our little dog, who never balked, Just walked each mile to the end. Yes, it would have been tough without You, Lord. No, it would have been downright im- possible. So we lift our praise and eternal thanks For making the long miles crossable. We were selling to raise the funds for our return trip to Alamogordo and I had Mr. and Mrs. Peterson on my mind all day. The feeling wouldn’t go away. I decided to call and see what was going on. They were about to provide the an- swer to a prayer we offered up about two years ago. We had asked the Lord to provide a place for us to settle when the time was right. What we had in mind was a cabin in the woods, far re- moved from civilization. God had something else in mind.

and wanted to know if we would like to rent it. They offered it to us at a price that even a couple of “roadies” could afford. The Lord not only an- swered the prayer about a house to live in, but He also restored for our use everything, and more, that we gave up over four years ago. The house was completely furnished right down to the dishes and a coffee pot. It only took a few minutes to discuss what Mrs. Peterson had asked me and call her back to tell her we would love to rent their house. The Lord had now provided us with a very big blessing that we have waited two years for, and it was a di- rect result of our walk. We were able to make it back to Alamogordo a week before Thanks- giving. We moved into our house on Tuesday before the holiday. This house is more than we could ever have hoped for or dreamed of hav- ing. It is certainly not what you would call a cabin. Thank you, Jesus! It is nothing fancy, but it is very spacious and comfortable. It even has running water, hot showers, and two bath- rooms! (Don’t forget about the washer and dryer, Harry!) It is nes- tled against a mountain side and sur- rounded by lofty pines that “sing” when the wind caresses their
Church In Need Of A Pastor A NON-LITURGICAL, NON-DENOMINATIONAL, IN- DEPENDENT, EVANGELICAL, BIBLE misson church in East-Central Wisconsin is losing their pastor sec- ondary to health issues. Since funds are limited, a BI VOCATIONAL PASTOR would be ideal. Attendance, once at less than 8-10, has been averaging 15-23 with 50% attending on Wednesday afternoon prayer and Discipleship/Bible Training Sessions.
There are trained and untrained members to assist the pastor. Information available upon request.
This is a Missions-minded church that also supports ministry in Israel.
The area has potential for growth under the leadership of the Holy Spirit and the right pastor.
NEEDS KNOWN: Continued training in SOLID Bibli- cal foundations, continue on-going Discipleship, Bible Training, lead community prayer services, area evan- gelism [lead and training], any funerals and weddings, believer’s baptism services as needed.
