Selection Guide for Casters & Leveling Glides
Guidelines for Choosing Casters
Wheel Lock / Brake Swivel Lock
Wheel Materials Polyamide (PA): Hard resin wheels. Rubber / Elastomer-based: Soft rubber or resin wheels.
For example, use the safety factor (0.75) as a guideline for the total load when using 4 casters. Total load N (kgf) = load capacity value N (kgf) x 4 (pcs) x 0.75 In addition, this safety factor (0.75) changes depending on usage conditions such as travel surface and speed. Be sure to make a selection upon confirmation of suitability for the application before use. Load Capacity Guidelines
Casters are manufactured for the purpose of easy movement and transport of objects. They are mounted on conveying machines and other devices used indoors or within facilities on flat surfaces, and used with manual force. Select suitable products for the application and usage conditions and mount them correctly for use.
Precautions for Selection • Select a product within the allowable load range fulfilling the conditions. Excess load may result in damage, cracking, or deformation of the product. The figures displayed for load capacity are examples of data considered reliable by Sugatsune and measured values in tests under conditions specified by Sugatsune; they are not guaranteed values. In addition, this safety factor (0.75) changes depending on usage conditions such as travel surface and speed. Be sure to make a selection upon confirmation of suitability for the application before use. • When considering use for motored traction or mechanical parts, consult us in advance. High-speed rotation or continued travel may result in damage, cracking, or deformation of the product due to excess load, impact, heat accumulation, etc. • Avoid use in special environments. Use in low-temperature, high-temperature, or high-humidity environments, or in environments exposed to acids, alkalis, salts, solvents, oil, etc., will not
only severely shorten the product’s lifetime but may also lead to deterioration or damage. • Because rubber wheels may leave marks on floors, confirm with the actual product.
Precautions for Usage • Use on flat surfaces. As vibration due to uneven surfaces such as asphalt or impact due to dropping down steps may lead to damage, cracking, or deformation of the product, do not use in these environments. • Do not apply extreme load to the casters. Impacts due to excess load or unloading or excessive force applied in the opposite of the wheel rotation direction may result in damage, cracking, or deformation of the product. • Do not apply excess force to the stopper. Load on the stopper due to being left on a slope or to travel with the stopper on, as well as use as a brake during travel, may lead to damage to the product, injuries, or damage to surrounding objects.
