Infants must be at least six months of age at the time of embarkation. On longer cruises, such as transoceanic, South America, Asia, South Pacific or Hawaii voyages, infants must be a minimum of 12 months of age at the time of embarkation. Babysitting On sea days, babysitting services are available through Guest Services for a small surcharge for children five and younger. The cost is $10 per hour for the first child and $7 per hour for each additional child. This service is provided by staff on a volunteer basis and may not always be available. Babysitting service is not offered while the ship is in port, although Club Hal does offer activities for children aged 3–12 between 8 am and 4 pm on port days. Pregnancy Policy Women cannot have begun their twenty-fourth week of pregnancy at any time before or during the cruise. Pregnant guests must provide a physician’s letter stating their expected due date and medical fitness to travel and asserting that the pregnancy is not high-risk. You must also include your name, booking number, ship, and sailing date. Letters may be faxed to the Access & Compliance Department at 1-800-577-1731. Or email them to halw_access@ hollandamerica.com. Children’s Programs Infants and Toddlers (0–3 years) There are no programs for children under three years of age. Children (3–7 years) On the MS Prinsendam, youth activities are available for ages 5–17. All other ships offer youth activities for ages 3–17. There are no children programing aboard the Maasdam. Club HAL ® — Kids: Children ages 3–6 can participate in such activities as pirate treasure hunts, hands-on pizza-making, storytelling, “Little Artists” crafts, ice cream sundae parties, and a farewell pajama party. Children in the Kids age group must be toilet trained. Children in pull-ups or diapers are not allowed in the youth facilities, due to mandates from the US Public Health Service.
