Well, West Hartford, warmer weather has finally arrived! That means it’s time to embrace fun in the sun, enjoy nature, and celebrate! This summer, there are tons of events to enjoy outside with family and friends, but here are a few to keep at the top of your list! Make a Splash This June, the West Hartford town pools are all opening back up! Don’t delay — take advantage of this opportunity to cool off, enjoy the water, have fun, and exercise! Outdoor Pool Opening Days BEACHLAND POOL 847 Quaker Lane, West Hartford Opening Day: June 18 FERNRIDGE POOL 567 Fern Street, West Hartford Opening Day: June 18 KENNEDY POOL 160 Oakwood Ave, West Hartford Opening Day: June 18 Eisenhower Pool will remain closed this summer for renovations! Celebrate! West Hartford On June 10-11, the entire town will be at Town Hall in West Hartford, sharing in festive community spirit. Since 1987, Celebrate! West Hartford has been one of the most exciting events of summer. Explore arts and crafts, food and drinks, and tons of live entertainment — it’s a great time to mingle with friends and family while supporting local businesses and nonprofits. Be sure to check out the FUNd RUNS, part of the Celebrate! West Hartford two-day event! On that Sunday, this family-friendly fitness 5K and Kid’s K is a great way to be active while helping those in need! A portion of the funds is donated to the Leisure Services Scholarship funds to assist kids from low-income families in attending camps, swimming lessons, and other life-enhancing activities! Seafood Pasta Salad Inspired by TheSpruceEats.com

Ingredients

• 4 cups fusilli noodles • 2 cups crab meat or shrimp • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese • 2 cups ranch dressing • 1 cup frozen peas, thawed • 1/2 cup chopped green peppers

• 1/2 cup chopped red peppers • 1/2 cup diced onions • 1/2 cup shredded carrots • 2 cups halved cherry tomatoes • 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese (optional)

Directions 1. In a large pot, bring the fusilli noodles to a boil and cook until al dente, then drain. 2. In a large bowl, combine noodles, crab or shrimp, cheddar cheese, ranch dressing, peas, green and red peppers, onions, and carrots, then mix together gently. 3. Refrigerate the pasta salad for 3–4 hours. If salad is dry upon removing from refrigerator, add more ranch dressing. 4. Once you’re ready to eat, top salad with tomatoes and Parmesan cheese if desired.
