SHARE THE FALL FUN
AND HARVEST NEW BUSINESS STRATEGIES
Fall is known as the season for cooler weather, warm-colored leaves, football games, festivals, and of course, pumpkin spice-flavored everything. But, it is also the time that takes everyone a step closer to the busy end-of-year holiday season. With so much going on, it can be easy to get lost in what you should be doing to increase your profits. Here are three strategies you can use to take advantage of the season and grow your business! WELCOME FALL WITH A FRESH THEME. As your targeted audience roams the web for things they may need this season, chances are they will stumble upon your website or social media platforms, so you will need something to stand out and catch their attention. A great way to do that is to give your website/platforms a new look! A clean and updated site will draw the audience in, and adding a holiday theme will get them in the fall spirit! Consider using product images with a fall-colored palette, like warm reds and oranges, bright
yellows, and other leaf-inspired hues. You can also incorporate those colors into your website or social media layouts. PUBLISH SEASONAL CONTENT. Having good quality content allows your business to connect with your audience and build its credibility. And sharing the right content is even more important during a holiday season, as it shows that your business is relevant and timely. Capitalize on events that go beyond the major ones marked in the calendar. If there are any local fall festivals happening in town, let your audience
contest with a specific hashtag or a photo caption contest, where your audience can come up with unique captions for a photo — then have the most popular caption win! If your business has a physical space, hosting a fall-themed event could be an effective way for clients or customers to get to know your business. You can have a raffle or giveaway and incorporate some kind of donation or proceeds that are given to local charities or other small businesses in your area. Fall is the season of change, and it’s a great time to breathe some new life into your marketing strategies. It opens up several doors to promote your business and connect with your targeted audience. With these fall marketing ideas, you can expand your reach and show off the best of your brand.
know! You can also share fall recipes and information about the best pumpkin patches or haunted houses. This type of fun, seasonal content will allow you to connect with your audience and make their lives a little bit easier. When a business builds trust through engaging, useful content, it can be a powerful tool for cultivating client loyalty. HOST FALL GIVEAWAYS AND CONTESTS. Social media is a strategic tool when it comes to hosting fall contests and giveaways. A simple way to gain more followers is to prompt your audience into following your account and tagging a friend to enter a contest or giveaway. From there, you can find a number of ways to structure a promotion. Consider a fall-themed picture

Thinking Outside the Bun Leads to Legal Action THE STORY OF 50 CENT VS. TACO BELL In 2008, rapper 50 Cent filed an unlikely lawsuit against the fast-food chain Taco Bell. Was it an endorsement deal gone wrong? Quite the opposite. According to the rapper, the company had implied an endorsement deal in the media when there was none. Taco Bell, known for their quirky and humorous ads, had released a print ad formatted as a faux “letter” to 50 Cent, requesting that 50 Cent change his name to 79, 89, or 99 Cent as a part of their latest promotion. The letter reached the national press and even television … except for 50 Cent’s actual mailbox. In fact, 50 Cent had no idea Taco Bell used his name. By releasing the letter, 50 Cent became the face of Taco Bell’s whole campaign, too. The letter was part of a larger hip hop-themed campaign, and customers could go to the Taco Bell website and participate in a “Rap Name Creator” to discover their rap name. They also had a “Why Pay Mo’ Rhyme Generator” that played hip hop music and a montage of “hip hop-themed scenes,” according to the rapper’s lawyer, Peter D. Raymond. As soon as 50 Cent found out about the letter on the news, he wasn’t happy. On July 23, 2008, 50 Cent — whose real name is Curtis Jackson — filed a federal lawsuit saying they featured the rapper in an ad campaign without his permission and profited directly from his celebrity status without paying him a multimillion-dollar fee. Raymond said his client sought $4 million in damages. In response, Taco Bell Corp. spokesman Rob Poetsch issued a statement saying: “We made a good faith, charitable offer to 50 Cent to change his name to either 79, 89 or 99 Cent for one day by rapping his order at a Taco Bell, and we would have been very pleased to make the $10,000 donation to the charity of his choice.” In the end, both sides settled, keeping the terms of the settlement confidential and paying their own legal fees. So, it’s possible that 50 Cent was paid after all, but we’ll never know the exact terms of their legal agreement, except “both sides are satisfied,” according to Raymond. Since then, more companies have been careful about using celebrity names in their marketing without permission. It pays to think inside the bun, after all.
So Many Social Media Outlets Which One Should You Use?
A social media presence is essential to connecting with your company’s customers and prospects. But do you need every media platform to engage with others? Each outlet meets different needs and interests, so it’s crucial that you analyze which one will net the most engagement for your business. In fact, the demographic of your targeted audience will help you decide. Let’s look at the three main outlets customers use to discuss their needs and wants. FACEBOOK is primarily used for family-friendly content. Recently, there is an added focus on business ads for networking purposes, which can help you attract more leads. The demographic on Facebook mainly focuses on individuals who are 45 years old and older. This platform is great for businesses targeting seniors, like those in the home improvement and estate planning industries INSTAGRAM was popularized by teenagers, but now over half of its users are between the ages of 25–34. Small businesses use this outlet to share upcoming events, sales, and products because of the new business feature on the app. Relationship-building is the sole focus for companies on Instagram because you can engage with customers through stories, live videos, and interactive polls. TWITTER is the best place to have personal conversations, brainstorm, and share news. Over 59% of Twitter users are between the ages of 25– 49, and 56% have completed some college courses or have a degree. Some businesses use Twitter to see what others are saying about their services and resolve any issues that occur. This is a great way to build trust with your customers and ensure they know you care about their experience with you and your company. VALUE-BASED SELLING IS AN UNDERUSED TACTIC
HOW CAN YOU USE IT IN YOUR BUSINESS?
2. Ask questions. Your prospects and customers want their voices heard, and asking questions is the best way to show them you’re listening. Encouraging them to tell you what they want and need has two benefits. First, it increases your customers’ confidence in your service and reassures them you’re interested in their situation. Second, you’ll discover how your product or service benefits your clients and why they should purchase from you. 3. Be genuine. Every interaction must be meaningful. Show your prospects that you care about them and don’t want to waste their time. Speak to them as if you’re friends. You don’t want them to feel like they’re talking to a salesperson but a trusted advisor. People buy items based on how it makes them feel. So focus on the benefits you can provide and place yourself in more of an expert role rather than a salesperson. Although value-based selling requires more work, it’s ultimately worth it. Not only will you show how valuable your service is, but you will build lasting relationships with your customers, which will bring more retentions and referrals. So, give this strategy a try and watch your business grow!
You may use sales tactics to persuade potential customers to purchase something from your business. But this strategy won’t work for some people. They may question the price of the product and how it benefits them. Instead, try value-based selling to provide greater value to your customers than your competitors. This is an underused sales tactic because many businesses focus on the price instead of the value their product or service offers their customers. WHAT IS VALUE-BASED SELLING? Value-based selling presents the value your product or service creates for your customers instead of focusing on the price. Placing your customers’ needs before your revenue will generate a long-term and reliable relationship with them. HOW DO YOU IMPLEMENT THIS STRATEGY IN YOUR BUSINESS PLAN? 1. Know your clientele. Understanding your customers’ needs drives better sales results. If you’re familiar with them, you can find what they’re looking for to add value to their lives. While researching, understand their background, industry, demographics, and pain points. If you’re attempting to sell to other businesses, look at their website and social media pages to see their company news and updates.
