SeSSIon 12 | FrencH culture Learning Objective: Experience main elements of the French culture and decide which ones can be used to support the Sofitel service culture

Ask: What examples can you give where we use our French art-de-vivre and local refinement to create Sofitel moments?

Explain Activity: the dice and the 6 different topics. Split the group in 2 teams.

Set uP

Have them take turns throwing the dice and answering the questions the transformer reads out, which are related to the number on the dice. The team with the most and best answers wins the prize. 1. French perfumes – Name as many typical French Perfumes as you can (Answers: Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Estee Lauder, Lancôme, Christian Dior, Cacharel, 2. French Fashion- Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Hermes, jean Paul Gau- tier, Christian Dior, 3. French cheese – How many cheeses are produced in France? (More than 400) 4. French expressions - Name as many French expressions that are internationally recognized? (answer: ‘Oh la la’, ‘ à la carte’, ‘à la mode’, ‘c’est la vie’, etc. etc.) 5. French chansons - Sing a French song with your team 6. French food – Name as many typical French dishes as possible 7. French beverages – Name as many typical French drinks as possible Hand out the prize to the winning team. Final part of activity: In your team, decide which elements of the French culture can be used to support the Sofitel service culture; in what way do those examples support that we care for your guests and that we make them feel welcome and valued?

SeSSIon BrIeFInG Prepare: A flipchart with the number 1-6 (this correlates to the dice). Next to the numbers write down one of the 7 topics above (only pic 6!). When someone rolls 1, they land on French perfumes, if someone lands on 5 its French chansons so on so forth. Say: Sofitel is part of AccorHotels, which is a French company. We already have lots of heritage and reputation for blending our French art-de-vivre and local refinement with our guest experiences to create these Sofitel moments. We have come a long way in shaping experiences. That is something to be proud of. Yes, it is an ongoing journey, but it is one of continuous discovery and creation. We have an ongoing aspiration to challenge ourselves to become better and keep making improvements.
