MEET JENNI, OUR PELVIC FLOOR AND SPINE SPECIALIST! HOW JENNI CAN RELIEVE MANY PELVIC AND SPINE ISSUES WITHOUT MEDICATION OR SURGERY

The staff at Impact Physical Medicine make a difference in our community day in and day out, and I couldn't be prouder of the entire team. We have one therapist who is making an especially significant impact for individuals with pelvic floor and spine symptoms. Meet Jenni Armitage, our pelvic floor and spine specialist. She initially saw the benefits of physical therapy after sustaining injuries to both knees in softball. However, it wouldn't be until later that she would find her passion for the profession. Jenni thrived in the business world as a purchasing agent for a manufacturing company, but the job didn't allow her to help people the way she had hoped. After talking it over with her family, she decided to go back to school to study physical therapy. After she earned her degree from the University of Minnesota, Jenni found an opportunity to study pelvic floor issues through six weeks of training by a renowned pioneer in the women’s and men’s health field. Many would be surprised to know that the minimum requirement to specialize in pelvic floor treatment is only a three-day course of training. Jenni’s extensive,

hands-on training, along with her 20-plus years of experience in the field have resulted in her ability to assess, educate, and treat pelvic floor dysfunctions successfully and rapidly. Jenni treats many different symptoms related to pelvic floor dysfunction in women and men. Some of these include incontinence, painful intercourse, pain during pregnancy, post-hysterectomy issues, testicular and scrotal pain, bowel spasms, irritable bowel issues, and pain or symptoms related to menopause. Throughout her experiences treating these pelvic floor conditions, Jenni has found strong correlations with the spine and the jaw. In addition to pelvic floor conditions, Jenni also specializes in treatment for low back, upper back, and neck pain; sacroiliac and pubic pain; and temporomandibular joint pain. Jenni’s success with her patients is due to her skilled hands-on treatment techniques along with her ability to educate her patients for successful self-management. Jenni believes that understanding a condition is the first step toward recovery, so she educates all of her

patients on the condition, symptoms, and treatment. Jenni often finds that if the spine is not in proper alignment, the muscles can respond by tightening, which creates trigger points. Trigger points are often the cause of the symptoms patients experience. Some trigger points can mimic the pain associated with urinary tract infections and yeast infections. Doctors try their best to alleviate this pain with antibiotics, but Jenni can often address the root of the symptoms directly by manually releasing the problematic trigger points. The dedication Jenni shows to each of her patients every day is something to marvel at, and we’re so happy she chose IMPACT to call home. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms or concerns, contact us and let Jenni help get you back on the road to recovery.
