Medication Assistance Program When a patient can not afford their medication, this program helps get costly drugs discounted to a small fee. A patient must meet financial guidelines to qualify for the program. When the prescription is approved for a reduced rate, patients can pick it up at their CHI pharmacy, or they can request home delivery. All CHI health centers have staff available to assist patients with the application for this program. For more information contact 305-254-2009 Jump Start This program provides a specialized CHI team that goes into early learning childhood centers to try and eliminate suspensions and expulsions. The team uses evidence based practices focused on mental health and interventions to better help teachers, parents and the kids manage disruptive behaviors. This is a collaboration between CHI, the University of Miami and The Children’s Trust. The services are based on best practices and recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics and Healthy Childcare America. By using culturally sensitive techniques grounded in decades of research, the initiative helps children manage challenging behaviors. For more information contact 305-492-9432 Migrant Health In an effort to increase access to health care and reduce barriers, CHI has tailored its services at its Everglades and South Dade Health Centers, located in farmworker housing communities.
Oral Health Grant CHI’s mobile dental trailer team visits schools and early learning centers to provide oral health education and preventive dental care. The highly trained dentists and licensed dental hygienists utilize top-of-the-line equipment for dental exams, cleanings, varnishes and sealants for uninsured and under-insured children who attend The Children’s Trust affiliated early childcare, after school care and Summer programs. The convenient program allows parents to avoid missing work or a day’s pay. For more information contact 786-400-9064 Project Screen This program focuses on free and low-cost breast and cervical cancer screening. This women’s health initiative is funded by the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County. The screenings are free if the patient meets program eligibility requirements. More than 700 women per year are helped by it at CHI locations. This initiative pays for all exams, tests and treatment, from the biopsy to chemotherapy, for up to five years for those who qualify.
