Perspective is important. My team likes to push itself to continue to develop, advance and grow the services and programs at Community Health of South Florida, Inc. (CHI). When you are giving back more than $15 million a year in charitable healthcare, we all want to offer the most, as we recognize people are in need. But I look back at how we started, more than 50 years ago, in 2 double- wide trailers—a dream realized by Doris Ison who rallied the support of volunteer doctors from her church. That perspective helps me realize how far we’ve come. Our team, community, and state and federal stakeholders all worked toward a common goal. Today, we continue to reach and expand that goal with high-quality compassionate healthcare for all, regardless of income, insurance status, or background. We cared for more than 65,000 unduplicated patients in 2023, and that translates to nearly 205,000 visits to our 13 health centers throughout Miami- Dade and Monroe counties. But it also includes our mobile medical van and
mobile dental trailer that have joined forces with our outreach team to make sure we connect with some of the most vulnerable populations and care for them. Community healthcare requires that we are innovative. We can’t use the same template that the average healthcare company might use. We consider the barriers to healthcare that our patients face and create solutions. Some of these solutions included adding cardiology to
