The Power of Collaboration in Law and Life TEAMWORK TRIUMPHS
Over the years, I’ve learned a lot from making my own mistakes as a lawyer and human being. Teaching ourselves this way can give us valuable insight and help us turn challenges into opportunities for growth. But when we collaborate, we tap into collective intelligence, share different perspectives, pool resources, and ultimately benefit from each other’s expertise. In the world of law, collaboration isn’t just a strategy — it’s a method for affecting even more significant change and helping more people navigate difficult times in their lives. From brainstorming innovative legal strategies to supporting one another through complex cases, teamwork plays a significant role in this line of work. At Armstrong Law, we have built our practice on co-counsel relationships with other firms who turn to us for referrals. We’ve worked with hundreds of other skilled lawyers to take on cases for them or assist them. Often, a firm is presented with a case that it can’t take on alone for various reasons. It might be a conflict of interest that can’t be waived or a case that requires more bandwidth than is available. Commonly, firms will refer a case to us when it is outside their field of expertise. They may be a family law firm and get a call about a workplace injury outside their scope of practice. When you have established relationships with other firms, you create a network of aid where people know you are the person to turn to when those cases come through the doors. When someone reaches out to refer a case, it could mean I take on the entire case or tackle it as a joint venture with them. One of the benefits of working together is the ability to share resources and divide the work. Maybe one person is excellent at doctor depositions, and another excels in discovery. By working as a team, we can learn from each other and delegate tasks to make everything run more smoothly.
The biggest benefit of collaboration or the referral process is that it allows you to see different viewpoints and experiences. When I work with other
lawyers, we bounce ideas off each other and gain insights we might not have alone. In a trial hearing or arbitration, when you are in the heat of the moment, having a teammate who can take notes and see things differently can be
incredibly helpful. Their unique perspective can help drive the right questions or approaches when working on a case. Ultimately, the more hands on deck, the better you can serve clients, and that’s all our mission at the end of the day. Teamwork is a big deal when it comes to lawyering and life. While those mistakes you make on your own are valuable, they might be mistakes you could have avoided if there was someone on your team to say, “I wouldn’t do that.” When we collaborate with others, especially in the legal world, we arm ourselves with greater resources, a more comprehensive range of expertise, and the ability to help even more clients.
If you are an attorney who does not handle personal injury matters, only handles those cases at the litigation level, or are a solo
practitioner handling a large personal injury case, I can help you fight for your clients.

Enjoying your own party can be more complicated than it sounds. Backyard barbecues are a high point of summer, but hosting one you enjoy with your guests requires planning. “If swimming is on the agenda, consider protecting new or light-colored indoor furniture with water-resistant covers so guests in wet swimsuits can sit wherever they want without stressing out their host,” says Calla Quinn, a TikTok influencer who recently posted tips on hosting up to 50 friends at your home. Another tip she shares is using of portable misting fans in dry climates. These devices create a fine mist to refresh passersby in seconds, and they are especially popular on patios and decks. If attendees offer to bring something, don’t hesitate to accept, and be specific about what you want — from lawn chairs to beach towels. Martha Stewart recommends having a stain remover on hand to manage stains and cloth towels that guests can use to wipe up spills. Expert hosts also recommend a self-serve bar for casual summer gatherings. Consider filling several 3-gallon drink dispensers with
popular options. Depending on your guest list, you might offer family fare such as lemonade, iced tea, ice water, or premixed cocktails like strawberry vodka lemonade or passion fruit margaritas. Martha Stewart suggests allowing amateur mixologists to concoct their own beverages by setting out bottled juices, artisanal sodas, and kombucha. A stylish yet simple way to serve hors d’oeuvres and side dishes to complement your grilled entree is to assemble or have catered a charcuterie board. These feature finger foods such as meats, cheeses, olives, spreads, fruits, nuts, chips, and crackers. A fully stocked charcuterie board adds a decorative touch while keeping guests well- fed for hours, adding what Quinn calls “a real wow factor.”
HOST A SUMMER BARBECUE FOR EVERYONE GRILL AND CHILL
And to make sure your day ends well, look for disposable, compostable
bamboo or wooden dishes. Searching for “eco-friendly tableware and cutlery” should turn up some good options. This one last detail can go a long way toward supporting sustainable living while ensuring you don’t spend any valuable party time cleaning up broken glass or washing dishes.
THE ESSENTIAL CHECKLIST FOR HANDLING A CAR ACCIDENT SCENE Crash Course
When you’re in a car accident, things happen quickly. As you make sense of the scene, it’s essential to protect yourself to get the care and compensation you need. From collecting insurance information to contacting a lawyer, acting fast and keeping a cool head is key to getting the best results as you recover. Buckle up as we steer through what you need to do when chaos strikes on the road. Stay Calm A crash can be scary, but the best thing you can do is remain calm. Take a few deep breaths or count to 10 to reduce your stress in the moment. Try to focus on what it takes to resolve the situation, and don’t get into arguments or disagreements with other involved drivers. Call 911 It’s essential to call 911 immediately to report the accident and receive care for any injuries. Even if you think an injury is minor, you should have an emergency medical professional evaluate you. Calling 911 will also ensure the police can get to the scene and assess the situation. Gather Evidence Collect evidence like names, insurance information, and witness contacts. Photos are one of the best ways to document the road
conditions during your accident, any vehicle damage, or injuries to yourself. All this information will strengthen your case. Don’t Admit Fault Don’t admit any fault in causing the collision. You can be wrong in believing you were partially to blame, and any statements you make can be used against you in court or settlement negotiations. The police will conduct their investigation to help determine what caused the accident. Call a Lawyer You should contact a lawyer as soon as possible after an accident so they have time to collect crucial evidence and witness accounts. A lawyer will be able to help you determine what you may be entitled to and can guide you through the whole process. Don’t sign anything from the insurance company until you’ve spoken with a lawyer. Insurance companies will often offer a settlement check quickly that may not be the total amount you need for your recovery. In the aftermath of a car accident, it’s crucial to remember to stay calm and focus on staying safe. If you’ve been in a wreck, Armstrong Injury Law is here to secure the care and compensation you deserve.

Have a Safe and Smile-Filled Summer
FIREWORKS, BOATS, AND BARBECUES
Boating If you are heading to one of Dallas’ popular lakes for boating, ensure you have performed maintenance checks on your vessel and have appropriate safety gear on board. Lifejackets are essential, and everyone on the boat must wear one that fits snugly. Communicate your boating plan with family members, and stay tuned to the weather. If a bad storm comes in or the conditions get dangerous, play it safe and get out of the water. Grilling Before you load up the grill for a family barbeque or get-together, ensure all your cooking equipment is working correctly and you have safety gear nearby. Always use the grill outside and place it away from any buildings or flammable items. If you need to step away from the grill, always ensure someone else steps in to watch over it. Never leave children or pets unattended by a hot grill. Fire can spread quickly, so don’t wear loose clothing that could fall into the flames, and wear gloves. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby in case of any emergencies. Whether you’re marveling at a local fireworks display, cruising on the lake, or grilling up something tasty, taking simple precautions can keep everyone safe. Let’s make this July one to remember for all the right reasons.
Sun-soaked days, boating adventures, and backyard barbeques — July in Dallas is the perfect time for festive summer activities like fireworks and grilling. But before you light that fuse or fire up the burgers, let’s talk safety. Though this sunny season offers many fun outdoor activities, it can also bring more injury risks. From having the correct safety gear to proper planning, we’re cooking up the main precautions you should know this summer to keep everyone in the family safe and smiling. Fireworks
Fireworks are synonymous with Independence Day, but these beautiful displays can be dangerous and a significant fire risk. One of the best ways to safely enjoy them is to leave the work to the professionals and attend an event. Lighting, buying, or possessing fireworks within Dallas city limits is
illegal. If you decide to enjoy sparklers at your home, however, be sure to follow basic safety guidelines. Keep water within reach, and don’t let children play with sparklers unattended. Wear safety goggles, and never lean over a sparkler to light them.
Strawberry Shortcake Layers of fresh strawberries, fluffy biscuits, and whipped cream create the perfect balance of sweet and tart.
