Hawks eaten by Wolves The Hawks travelled to Renfrew to face the Wolves on Saturday, December 16. Bray- den Besner scored the first goal, and only goal, for the Hawks in the first period. Then the Wolves came out strong in the second, with five goals coming from Emitt Robillard, Austin Fellinger, Andrew Morton followed by two from Jace Letourneau, the league’s highest scoring player. Alex Bilequey scored one to make the score 5-2. The Hawks’ Deklyn Campbell and Alex Fournier each scored the early third period,
but couldn’t tie the game up. Morton scored a sixth goal for the Wolves with five minutes on the clock, but the Hawks didn’t let up. Noah Leithman brought the Hawks within one as the score sat at 6-5 with two minutes left to play. However, the Hawks didn’t manage to mount their comeback, with the Wolves scoring two empty net goals from Wyatt Hickock and Jace Letourneau, the latter to complete his hattrick. The Hawks will play their final game of 2023 at home against the Smith-Falls Bears on Friday, December 22.

Alexis Bilequey scored the Hawks’ first goal after just three minutes of play in the second period, but Hicklin scored his second just 20 seconds later. Eric Barnard went on to score the Lumber Kings fourth goal just three minutes later. Alexis Fournier pulled a goal back for the Hawks with a few minutes left to play in the second. Maverick Hayes scored the fifth goal for the Lumber Kinds, putting the game out of reach for the Hawks late in the third for a final score of 5-2.
The Hawkesbury Hawks lost both their games this weekend, one against the Pembroke Lumber Kings and the other the Renfrew Wolves. in the second period, but Andy Lightle-Blais and Maxime Laliberté pulled two goals back for the Cougars. Unfortunately for the home team, they couldn’t keep their lead. Tyler Proulx and Samuel Levesque scored two back-to-back goals late in the second period to bring the game to a 3-2 lead for St. Isidore. The Eagles started the third period in strength, with goals from Cedric Hughes and Alexi Gaudreau, and Bruno Lafram- boise scored the Cougars third goal. Justin
Duchesne brought the game to a 6-3 lead for Saint-Isidore with only eight minutes to play, but the Cougars didn’t let up. Zachary Sullivan and Malcolm Seguin each scored one for the Cougars, bringing the game back to a one goal difference. The Eagles responded with two goals of their own thanks to Kyle Huneault and Jean-Miguel Savage in the final three minutes of the game, finally putting the game out of reach for the Cougars.
The Vankleek Hill Cougars were thrashed 11-0 by the Gatineau-Hull Volant on Sunday, December 17, followed by a hard-fought loss against their rivals, the Eagles from St. Isidore.
