To stay in the program, work the program, and have a job at the end of the program.” Walkable Communities • Walkable Community: “I have a desire to see safer streets. The Mill District’s streets are terrible. Some of our crossing walks don’t work. And so there are areas that I actually can see if you’re coming into I-85 into, Newnan from Columbus, and that huge bridge that says, “Newnan.” I can see a huge walk bridge, cause a lot of the people, the pedestrians walk. So I can see us pulling those people off the ground so that they don’t get hit, because this is the busiest street in the city of Columbus. And having a huge walk bridge that now allows people to continue to walk in their community, but we’ve taken them off the ground so they can be safe. And the sign says the Mill District.” Community Events/Social Events • Community Events / Social Events: “I’ve seen some help fairs and some things like that, which obviously meets one of your goals. I would love to see some big social events there. You’ve got, that highlight the area, that bring people in to see other parts of the community. Gives us an opportunity to show off the community, I think gives potential small businesses and idea of what economic return they might get if they want to build in that area.” • Community Events: Social Events: “I can see in the Mill District that we’re hosting community events, where people are now being more so educated by their neighbors and understanding what’s going on on the other side of the street and feeling comfortable and safe”
