Flexible Staffing Solutions Internal Float Pools are typically managed by a central resource department within a hospital or health system that oversees enterprise-wide staffing. Internal Float Pool staff are employed full- or part-time, and they can work across a number of units and multiple hospitals within a health system. An internal Float Pool can help healthcare organizations manage a surge in patient volume or significant event response, and unexpected vacancies. Enterprise Float Pools are ideally layered over site-based pools to increase the nursing workforce’s flexibility. Internal Agency An internal agency is a standalone department or separate outsourced legal entity in a healthcare organization or hospital that manages the staffing needs of the organization’s nursing units. This agency is responsible for recruiting, training, and deploying nurses and other healthcare professionals to work temporarily or permanently within their organization.
The key features and benefits of an Internal agency include:

Vendor Management Systems A Vendor Management System (VMS) is a workforce solution that automates, expedites, and tracks all temporary staffing functions from order (staffing need) through payment, including supplier management and invoice consolidation. If clients use other staffing companies (associate vendors), our VMS helps them track and efficiently organize their staffing process. We have VMS solutions for the spectrum of care facilities, from large, complex organizations to smaller providers of care. Our current VMS products are Shiftwise, Medefis and b4health. ACA Affordable Care Act, often referred to as “ObamaCare.”
ACO Accountable Care Organizations, which are groups of doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare providers, who come together voluntarily to give coordinated high-quality care to their Medicare patients. ADVANCED PRACTICE PROFESSIONALS Advanced Practice Professionals include physician assistants (PA), nurse practitioners (NP), certified nurse midwives (CNM) and certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNA). They are able to do many of the same things a physician does. PAs, NPs, and CNMs can prescribe medications. CDI Clinical Documentation Improvement – This is a service that helps educate client staff to accurately document and code data for use in reporting, physician report cards, reimbursement, public health data, and disease tracking and trending. CONTINGENT A term used to describe staff not considered “core” to a unit or department, including float pool staff, temporary nursing or allied professional staff.. CRITICAL STAFFING Also known as strike staffing. This is a service that AMN provides to clients facing work stoppage due to a planned union strike. EHR Electronic Health Record – A digital version of a paper chart that contains all of a patient’s medical history. GPO Group Purchasing Organization – This is an entity that connects healthcare organizations to negotiate contracts and help providers save costs in their supply chain.
