NCQA The National Committee for Quality Assurance, an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the United States that works to improve healthcare quality through the administration of evidence-based standards, measures, programs, and accreditation. PER DIEM This Latin phrase means “per day” and at AMN indicates nurse and allied staffing as needed by our clients. Also known as local nursing. Most “per diem” nurses travel 50 miles or less for these placements, which are literally on a day-to-day basis. Per Diem nurses may work two days at one hospital and three nights at a different healthcare facility – all in one week. RAPID RESPONSE On-the-move clinicians ready to help disasters, new facility openings or special projects such as vaccine clinics. TOA Travelers on Assignment - An AMN abbreviation to indicate travel nurses and allied professionals currently placed on assignment by the company. VMS/SMS Vendor/Supplier Management System – A workforce solution technology platform to manage contingent staffing services, which include procurement of healthcare professionals, scheduling, and billing reports.
