CASE STUDY Cardiff Interchange
Located in Central Square, the 500,000 sq. ft interchange building and development included a 14-bay bus station and a 12-storey office space, alongside the 318 HQM-certified buy-to-rent apartments. Keeping the building to the required living and working temperature was Cooltherm’s remit. The project required specified, installed and maintained chiller units that fit in a very specific footprint. As the chillers are installed so close to the 318 apartments, sourcing equipment with low operating volume was imperative. COOLING OVER HALF A MILLION SQUARE FEET
Given the size of the development, a chiller with high capacity was essential. It was determined that a Turbomiser chiller from Geoclima would fit the project, with its high capacity (up to 800kW), low noise levels (<65dB), and footprint that matched almost exactly to the plant space. Through consultation with our network of contractors, the chiller was installed following a complex crane lift to the chosen area. Furthermore, following commissioning of the chiller, Cooltherm were chosen as the primary service & maintenance provider.
