G ERMAN fine dining is a real rarity in Asia. But twins Thomas and Mathias Sühring have executed it flawlessly in their Bangkok home. Opened in 2016, Sühring became the second highest new entry in Asia’s 50 Best list in 2017 – taking 13th spot before climbing into the top five the following year. The Erlebnis (or experience) tasting menu is fun, as well as technically daring, giving an insight into modern German cuisine but inspired by the twins’ childhood memories and family recipes. Expect exciting takes on currywurst (pork sausage seasoned with curry ketchup), Brötzeit (a traditional savoury Bavarian snack) and spätzle (a type of pasta).
