Light Aircraft Flights Many safari journeys in Zimbabwe include light aircraft flights between camps and remote airstrips, offering a unique aerial perspective over rivers, floodplains, and vast wilderness areas. Aircrafts are typically small, carrying between 4–12 passengers, and operate on flexible schedules depending on routing and weather conditions. Flights may include multiple stops en route for guest transfers between camps. Baggage Guidelines Due to the use of light aircraft on many safari routes, strict baggage restrictions apply. Maximum dimensions for ANY type of bag should not exceed 90 cm x 85 cm x 35 cm (L x W x D)
Weight allowance is typically 20 kg (33–44 lbs) per person, including hand luggage. Soft-sided duffel bags are required, as hard-shell suitcases cannot be accommodated on light aircrafts. Money & Payments The local currency is the Zimbabwean Dollar, though USD is widely used for tourism. Credit cards are accepted at many lodges, but cash is essential for tipping and small purchases. Connectivity & Wi – Fi Wi-Fi is available at many lodges, though connectivity may be limited in remote areas. Local SIM cards are available in major towns. Insider Tip: Most safari camps offer laundry services, allowing you to pack light and travel comfortably.
Tipping Guidelines In Africa, it is custom ary – but not obligatory – to tip service staff in gratitude for good service. Tipping is usually done at the end of your safari. You are welcome to tip individual staff or place tips in the gratuity box, usually located in the main mess area. Tips for guides should be given directly to them at the end of the safari.
