Committed to giving the
next generation opportunity. We strive to produce genetics that pay. Welcome to our 2026 Annual Production Sale! It is truly a pleasure to write this letter as we sit in one of the greatest times ever recorded in the cattle business! The cattle market is rapidly changing every day, good cattle are finally getting paid what they’re worth, and if you have the right genetics in place you’re sitting in an awful good seat. We anticipate these prices to hold in there for the foreseeable future as there is simply not enough cattle out there; this is a credit to you, the producer, who has weathered every storm and stuck it out! This year we will bring to you not only our largest offering to date, but what we feel is hands down the best set of bulls we have raised from top to bottom. Be sure to come through the bulls at any time before sale day so that you have plenty of time to get through every bull, the quality runs that deep. Although it may often seem redundant to say every year that this is the best set raised to date; it is our belief that through our extensive embryo program, and laser focused breeding program that we should be seeing a drastic improvement year after year. We will offer more than 45 sets of flush mates this year, therefore allowing you to select for more consistency in your herd. Every bull in this offering has been genomic tested. All bulls are guaranteed for the first breeding season, if you have a problem, please get ahold of us as we want to make sure that your buying experience at Poss Angus is the best that it can possibly be. Satisfied customers are the foundation of our success. The goals of our program have never changed. Our idea in mind is for these cattle to thrive in any environment you ask them to work in. These bulls have been bred and developed for you, the commercial cattleman, in mind. Because of our customer base, we get to work everyday towards our goals, giving us the opportunity to do what we love. Our family and team are extremely thankful and blessed to have your interest in our program. We value your input and we have you and your operation in mind when we make decisions at Poss Angus. Our team has worked diligently to bring our best offering to this sale. We are very thankful for the relationships we have gained through the friends and customers that have trusted us along the way in this business. Please feel free to call any of us as we would love to visit with you about your operation and how Poss Angus bulls can be a source of power, growth, carcass and maternal genetics for your cow herd. We look forward to seeing you Friday, February 6th at the ranch; or at anytime prior to sale day. Lunch will begin at noon and be sure to stick around for a Certified Angus Beef ribeye dinner and refreshments following the conclusion of the sale.

Bulls backed by REAL WORLD COWS.
Many breeders in today’s world like to say they are top breeders of maternal genetics without the commitment to measuring it. It would be the same as breeding for performance without collecting weaning and yearling weights. We believe maternal function is defined by a combination of measurable and immeasurable traits. Are you buying bulls from a maternal and data driven herd? At Poss Angus, we are committed to producing bulls that will sire practical and problem-free females. Over the past eight years, through the enrollment of MaternalPlus, we have been able to provide a data driven cowherd, while adding cowboy common sense into this multi-faceted approach. With this new approach, we are better able to identify cows that are worthy of propagation or elimination. With this combination we are now offering a more predictable product for our customers.
With both approaches in progressing maternally relevant traits, we are relying heavily on both sides to not only make breeding decisions, but to make even more informed culling decisions. With a zero-tolerance for any cows that fail to meet our criteria of any of the maternal traits we measure, we are quickly bringing up the bottom end of a cowherd.
We have earned the MaternalPlus designation by meeting the national inventory reporting requirements, and providing not only ourselves but you the customer with the information needed to make effective selection decisions. This voluntary designation is designed to capture additional reproductive trait data and expand reproductive and survivability tools.
What data are we collecting and submitting to build the maternal EPDs at the American Angus Association? Udder Suspension and Teat Size. Udder suspension and teat size are critical for newborn calves to receive colostrum in a timely manner. The first day of a newborn calf’s life is essential to its future health and performance. Udder quality plays a large part in that calf getting its needed nutritional requirements. Every cow is scored annually for both traits. Claw and Angle. Foot quality is vital to the longevity and long-term productivity of a beef animal. Every cow is scored annually for both traits, and taken into effect. Heifer Pregnancy and Cow Fertility. Cattle reproduction is the largest economic driver of turning a profit in the cow-calf business. We are continually applying more selection pressure on our cowherd by mostly retaining females that are a product of conception in the first two cycles of the breeding season. All breeding data and ultrasound results are submitted annually. Docility. Like any other trait, we believe there is an optimum range for the docility level of cattle to make superior maternal females. Identifying and culling animals on both sides of the extreme and keeping the ones that fall in the middle is our goal. Cows that are mean and flighty are unacceptable for safety. Cows that fall short in mothering ability and require extra attention are not desirable either. All cattle are scored for docility as yearlings on the ranch.
What are the immeasurable traits of maternal function that we use cowboy common sense to track?
Mothering Ability. Not only do we not have the time or the want to do a cow’s job for her when she calves, but we understand that it is unacceptable for our customer’s as well. We have a zero- tolerance for cows that choose not to get their calves up and going immediately after they calve. Cows that mull or walk away from them are no longer accepted within our cowherd. Calf Vigor. We have come to the understanding that it is an almost perfect science, when calves need attention at birth because of lack of vigor, it is most likely to reoccur at some point in their life again. Calves that never receive their full amount of colostrum in a timely manner will most likely never reach their genetic potential. We have made an effort to identify calves that have lacked vigor at birth from different sire and cow lines in hopes of creating bulls that will sire calves with excellent vigor at birth. Fleshing Ability. Multiplying genetics that can easily hold their flesh throughout all phases of the year is a focal point of our cowherd. Like most of our commercial customer base, we expect our cowherd to forage and be self-sufficient without supplementation well into the winter months. With the fence-line weaning method used on our heifers they are kept on grass until early fall when they are then turned onto corn stalks until the early part of March. We use this period as a selection pressure to assist in identifying which females cannot thrive in tough conditions. Physical Analysis. Phenotype can be a valuable tool. At calving time, every female is evaluated. If a female is undesirable in any category, she is instantaneously removed from her group and culled. With this ability every female is identified on a single basis to make sure we are only replicating our best females. When selecting females for the replacement pen, wedge-shaped, deep ribbed females with a feminine design are an absolute must.

Explanation of Data BIRTH TRAITS CED EPD Higher number equals more calving ease. BW EPD Reflects size of calf at birth; smaller number equals more weight. Actual BW Ratioed and incorporated into the EPD.
CARCASS TRAITS & VALUE INDEXES CW EPD expressed in pounds is a predictor of the differences in hot carcass weight of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. MARB EPD expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. RE EPD expressed in square inches, is a predictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M) expressed in dollars per head, predicts profitability differences in progeny due to genetics from conception to weaning. Increaded selection pressure on $M aims to decrease overall mature cow size and improve foot structure and fertility while maintaining weaning weights consistent with today’s production. Feedlot Value ($F) is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for post-weaning merit compared to progeny of other sires. Beef Value ($B) is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for post-weaning and carcass value compared of other sires. Combined Value ($C) an index expressed in dollars per head, includes all traits that make up both $M and $B with the objective that commercial producers will replace 20% of their breeding females per year with replacement heifers retained within their own herd. The remaining cull heifer and steer progeny are then assumed to be sent to the feedlot where the producers retain ownership of those cattle and sell them on a quality-based carcass merit grid. PERFORMANCE TRAITS Performance traits are expressed in pounds. Weaning and yearling weight EPD’s are predictors of the ability for those pounds to be transmitted to offspring. This year you will notice we have only included the ratio’s for weaning and yearling. We feel that this is a better indicator of the individual performance compared to the rest of the herd. With rising input costs, this is a great tool to determine actual performance with management integrated. Embryo calves that are a product of IVF technology and/or were raised on a commercial recipient automatically ratio 100. If interested in seeing actual weaning and yearling weights, get ahold of us and we would be more than happy to send them to you. WW Ratio Weight adjusted to 205 days, ratioed in contemporary group and incorporated into EPD. YW Ratio Weight adjusted to 365 days, ratioed in contemporary group and incorporated into EPD. Yearling bulls yearling weight ratio will be included in supplement sheet prior to sale.
Calving Ease Stars We scale our bulls on a 1-4 scale based on the data we have and our knowledge of the pedigree to give you the best idea of what the bulls are most suited for, for breeding. Heifer bull with excellent calving ease Heifers and cows Best suited for young and mature cows Best suited for mature cows Our bulls have been sorted into four groups of calving ease stars. Calving Ease Stars H MATERNAL TRAITS Dam’s Nursing Ratio Average weaning ratio of offspring produced by the dam in her time. We feel that this is an excellent opportunity to give more detail at what the cows behind the bulls are accomplishing. Dam’s Calving Interval Defined as the number of days between a cow’s successive calves. Another tool we have decided to add that shows the fertility to the dam’s behind the bulls. Cows who breed up AI year after year are the most profitable and usually in the ballpark of 365 days. Note: ET donor’s will be exempt due to conventional flushing, requiring them to remain open to do so. HP EPD a selection tool to increase probability of a sire’s daughters becoming pregnant as first-calf heifers during a normal breeding season. MANAGEMENT TRAITS Claw Set EPD (Claw), is expressed in units of claw-set score, with a lower EPD being more favorable indicating a sire will produce progeny with more ideal claw set. The ideal claw set is toes that are symmetrical, even and appropriately spaced. Foot Angle EPD (Angle) , is expressed in units of foot-angle score, with a lower EPD being more favorable indicating a sire will produce progeny with more ideal foot angle. The ideal is a 45-degree angle at the pastern joint with appropriate toe length and heel depth. HHHH HHH HH

An elite trio of flush brothers that will add value to carcass merit while maintaining maternal functionality that we expect in these cattle. Big time performance bred cattle that will be highly sought after for their blend of phenotype and genetic contributions. These bulls will add value to all segments of the cow/calf business. The maternal cow power of this flush is second to none. Their dam is an own daughter of Pappy, who is most notably known as the sire of Pendleton. Identified as one of the real complete and good females of the breed, we were fortunate enough to be able to purchase a flush on this female from our good friends at Pine View. Her dam has been a staple of their program that has produced numerous sale toppers. We feel that the progeny of J61 will transmit the ability of creating long lasting, productive females; these brothers exemplify that.

The Winchester progeny are full of mass and substance that are big barreled and long sided. Winchester boasts an impressive combination of high indexes and top notch phenotype. He has a strong backing, maternally influenced pedigree, and will sire herd impacting females.
