Heath and Poppy Binks represen ti ng The Queen's Equestrian Team
Swimming Championship in October, which proved to be an exci ti ng event for all swimmers with some tough compe titi on. Many took the challenge and competed in older age groups, which was a fantas ti c challenging experience for them. Amelia Fitzgerald in Year 10 was delighted to win the chance to a tt end a bu tt er fl y swim camp this year, hosted by Olympic swimmer James Guy. The day consisted of land training, sports psychology, and a two ‐ hour pool session. She also had the opportunity to train with Adam Peaty. Amber Nash in Year 5 saw success as she took part in her fi rst two compe titi ve galas this year, coming away with one gold medal, three silver medals, and two bronze medals. She also joined Year 7 swimmer Isabelle Skippon at a successful meet in Holywell, with swimmers from all over North West England and Wales. • Athle ti cs This year, our Year 5 and 6 pupils a tt ended two indoor athle ti cs compe titi ons, where they competed in di ff erent athle ti cs disciplines. Rosie Broome performed excep ti onally at the AJIS Indoor Athle ti cs compe titi on , coming 2nd place in the chest push and 3rd place in the sprint. At the Cheshire Schools Indoor Athle ti cs compe titi on , Queen’s pupils saw mul ti ple successes, including Isabella Banham , who emerged as the chest push winner, Zara Hardcastle , who was the six lap Parlaauf winner, and Sophie Reid Entwistle , who came away as winner in the six lap Parlaauf and the speed bounce. Our Under 13 team were crowned Chester and District winners, progressing on to the Indoor Athle ti cs County Finals where they placed 3rd overall. Under 13 team: Clemence Ba tt , Lauren Dandy, Daisy Holland Hewle tt , Lauren Higgins, Sa fi yah Ja ff ri, Isabel Mackay, Alice Pownall and Rebekah Shuler . A team of Under 13 and Under 15 athletes took part in the Cheshire School’s Cup and demonstrated outstanding e ff ort, with the Under 13 team achieving runner up posi ti on in most
Coun ti es Championships in the Under 15 800m, performing excep ti onally well and running a personal best. • Tennis Zara Douglas in Year 8 has seen many successful matches this academic year, including 1st place wins at the Wales County Tour and the North Wales ‘Play Your Way to Wimbledon’ club round at Wrexham. She goes on to play at the County Finals in July, where she will compete to represent North Wales at Wimbledon. • Rounders Our Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 rounders team had a successful start to the season against The King’s School Chester, as they emerged victorious in three out of four of the matches. Our Under 14 rounders team performed excep ti onally well at the Chester and District tournament , progressing through to the semi fi nals a ft er demonstra ti ng some superb teamwork and coordina ti on skills. • Biathlon For the fi rst ti me, Queen’s entered the Na ti onal Schools Biathlon Championship this year. There were amazing performances from all compe ti tors, with Clemence Ba tt , Lauren Higgins and Sophie Mulcaster qualifying for the na ti onal fi nals. • Pistol Shoo ti ng Also for the fi rst ti me, The Queen’s Pistol Team entered the Na ti onal Pistol Shoo ti ng Championships . They won the Schools Pistol Championship West Midlands and North West
of their track races. Our Under 12 to 15 teams also competed in the Chester and District Athle ti cs compe titi on and performed brilliantly, with many pupils achieving personal bests and gaining places in the fi nals. Lauren Higgins in Year
