HUH (I–Joist Applications) Heavy Universal Hanger Standard Installation Instructions – I–Joist Header without Backer Block

Wipe over top tabs to give a flush fit to the joist.
Nail top tabs into top flange of joist – Min 2No 3.4 x 35mm square twist nails into rear ply and 1No 3.4 x 35mm square twist nail into front ply per leg.
Position hanger flush with underside of joist.
Face nail to top and bottom flanges using 14No 3.4 x 35mm square twist nails in total.

Nail top tabs into top flange of joist – Min 2No 3.4 x 35mm square twist nails into rear ply and 1No 3.4 x 35mm square twist nail into front ply per leg.
Fill all round and triangular nail holes to header and backer face with 3.4 x 35mm square twist nails.
Wipe over top tabs to give a flush fit to the joist.
Position hanger flush with underside of joist.
Backer block installed as per I–Joist manufacturer’s guidelines.
HUH-W-220-235 Installation Guidance Top Flange Nailing
1. Diamond nail holes are to be nailed for joist depths <= 225mm 2. Circular holes are to be nailed for joist depths >225mm *All circular holes on the face of the header must be nailed as standard, excluding the HUH-W-220-235 with joists over 225mm deep, where 6 circular holes at the top flange are replaced by 6 diamond holes. *Triangular holes are for Enhanced Installations
