North Face
North Face White ALY201
North Face Tetraploid Alyssum
North Face is a new tetraploid Alyssum with a wonderful cascading habit, making it ideal as a hanging basket or container filler or in the garden border. The larger pure white flowers and improved vigour result in a better showing at retail stage and or with the consumer, whilst the lower growing & well branched habit is easier to handle for the growers.

Plug Production: 200 or 288 plugs Sowing/Media: Use a well-drained, disease-free, peat based plug medium with pH 5.5-5.8, EC <0.75 mmhos. Sow 3-5 seeds per cell. Cover seed lightly with coarse vermiculite if needed. Germination Stages 1 & 2: (7 days) Keep medium uniformly moist, media temperature should be 68-72°F (20-22°C), Light is not necessary for germination but make sure light levels are <1500 f.c. Germination Stage 3: Media temperature should be 65-68°F (18-20°C). Practice a good wet/dry moisture cycle avoiding wilting and over watering to prevent damping off. Keep light levels <3000 f.c. as leaves can turn yellow under high light and stress. Fertilize every other watering with 100-150ppm N from 15-5-15, 17-5-17, or 20-10-20 (in high light conditions only). Keep media pH 5.5-5.8 and EC at 1.0-1.5mmhos. Germination Stage 4: Dry down media between irrigations avoiding wilting, temperature should be 60-62°F (15-17°C). Light levels should be 2500- 3000 f.c. no higher. Fertilise as required with 15-5-15, 17-5-17, monitoring lower leaves for fertiliser requirements. Growth Regulators: Spray with A-Rest (3–5 ppm) or Bonzi (1–3 ppm) as needed. Weather conditions and cultural practices directly affect how much growth regulator to use, so it is recommended that you run your own trials. Avoid stressing Alyssum with water, fertiliser and high light as this can cause the lower leaves to drop. Growing On to Finish: Packs, 4” (10cm) pots, 12” (30cm) hanging pots Media: Use a well-drained, disease free, peat-based growing mix with pH 5.5-5.8, EC <1.5mmhos. Temperatures: Keep media temperature at 65-68°F (18-20°C) until roots have developed and then lower to 60-62°F(15-17°C) to grow on. Light: Keep light levels at 3000 f.c. Higher light levels can cause more yellowing of lower leaves. Irrigation: Practice a good wet/dry moisture cycle avoiding extremes of wet and dry. Fertilizer: Fertilize once-twice a week with 100-150ppm N from 15-5-15 or 17-5-17. If growing under higher light levels you may need to occasionally fertilise with 20-10-20 to avoid yellowing of the lower leaves. Keep media pH 5.5-5.8 and EC 1.0-1.5mmhos. Growth Regulators: Sprays of Bonzi (10 ppm), Sumagic (2 ppm) and B-Nine (2500–5000 ppm) can be used as needed. Once buds show, avoid sprays of Bonzi and Sumagic as the buds will stay green too long. Instead use drenches of Bonzi (2-3ppm) or Sumagic (0.5-1ppm). It is best to run your own trials, especially with drenches to avoid overdosing, as environmental conditions and cultural practices can affect results. Pests: Thrips Diseases: Damping-off, Pythium, Botrytis, Downy Mildew, wilting, yellowing of lower leaves – too high light or not enough fertiliser.
