Every once in a while a person comes along that defies all odds in their determination to unselfishly give of themselves to help others. In Cleveland, Ohio, that person was Charles Keith Thompson, known to his friends and coworkers as “Amad”. Amad joined the UMADAOP of Cleveland family over 11 years ago, first as a client (self-initiated), then as a volunteer and later he was hired as a Reentry Specialist by the agency to run groups for their CFRO prison re- entry program. To say Amad possessed a special gift for dealing with all types of people would be an understatement. Naturally gifted Thompson used the arts (very often poetry and music) to connect with troubled youth and others.
