Melaleuca’s Global Headquarters in Idaho Falls, Idaho
NEW BALANCE AS A LEADER One of the best rewards of building a Melaleuca business is the friendships you make. The Directors you enrol and develop on your journey to Senior Director will be your closest business partners and will often become your closest friends. Growing together, sharing your successes together, and forming priceless friendships are likely the best bonuses of all. But don’t forget the other side of the coin. Developing a team of business partners requires you to become a leader! And as your organisation continues to grow and your business partners begin developing their own Directors, your responsibilities as a leader will continue to deepen. Where do you find the balance? “As you advance to Senior Director,” says John Hall, “you’ll have to spend more time mentoring your team. I do believe this is why the Compensation Plan rewards a person so handsomely for mentorship. At the same time, you’ll have to continue to build your business. Melaleuca has already provided the game plan for making this balance work. It’s simple: refer four to eight new customers per month, and mentor those who are open to building a business to do the same activities.” “Balancing your own business-building efforts with being an effective leader starts and ends with leading by example,” Shannon Gurley says. “Your execution of the Seven Critical Activities always comes before any other
leadership responsibility. In leadership you always stand on the platform of your own actions so others can follow. “Transforming into a leader is a learning process. You won’t always feel like you’ve done your best for your team. You’ll fall short sometimes. You won’t always feel like you said the right thing. You will fail to enrol someone you were sure would have become an awesome business builder. Each failure will be a tough lesson to learn. “Yes, you will have your struggles!” Shannon adds. “I haven’t always been consistent as a leader. But the beauty of Melaleuca is that it will always be there when you are ready to run toward success again.”
BETTER IN EVERY WAY Learning to trust that your support team will always be there for you – and that Melaleuca will always be there too – will give you belief and confidence no matter what situation arises. Becoming a Senior Director will change your perspective. It will be a vantage point where you can clearly see what lies ahead. But that will be because you’ve worked hard to get there. “You’ll feel like you’re going from surviving to thriving,” Shannon Gurley says. “From the perspective of Senior Director, you’ll see abundance instead of want. Life still brings uncertainty, but you feel more prepared.”
Who will you be when you get there? When you reach Senior Director you will have successfully enrolled 20 or more Melaleuca customers who are educated about the products and who shop enthusiastically month after month. You will have begun to master the process of developing Directors and mentoring them as they get started with their own journeys. And you will have belief. You will have posture. You will be a goal setter and a goal achiever.
Most important, you will have built the foundation for a business that lasts a lifetime.
