Samantha Gerard (DC 2005; HNZ 2008) is the founder and chief executive officer of Talk: The New Sex Ed, Inc.
Lillian-Yvonne Bertram (DC 2006) is an associate professor of English, Africana studies and art & design at Northeastern University.
CMU’s 2023 Tartans on the Rise are advancing society through technology, celebrating human expression and elevating industries, communities and people everywhere. Now in its second year, CMU celebrates recent alumni who are making an impact in their organizations and in their communities, across the nation and around the world through leadership, innovation and career achievements. Two Dietrich College alumni were among those recognized by the university for their transformational impact. Alumnus Stefan Savage Elected to NAE Stefan Savage (DC 1991) has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering, among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer. Savage is a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California, San Diego. In 2017, he was awarded a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship. His research interests lie at the intersection of distributed systems,
networking and computer security, with a current focus on embedded security and the economics of cybercrime.
