National Lifeguard - Pool Option (15+ years) Learn lifeguarding skills, principles, practices, and the decision- making processes that help lifeguards provide effective safety supervision in swimming pool environments. Practice aquatic industry standards, accident prevention, decision-making processes, and rescue skills. This is a 44-hour course that requires study and assignment completion outside of class time. 100% attendance is mandatory. This course is worth two grade 12 high school credits. Participants must be 15 years of age or older, hold a Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid Certificate. Designed for experienced Lifesaving Society Swim Instructors who wish to expand their qualifications to include teaching and evaluating the Society’s Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion, and Bronze Cross awards. Through a combination of classroom learning and in- water practice, participants refine their skills to deliver effective and engaging lifesaving instruction. The program includes a minimum of 16 hours of instruction. Successful candidates receive Lifesaving Instructor certification, valid for two years, and are qualified to teach all levels of the Lifesaving Society’s lifesaving programs. This course is worth one grade 11 credit. This course requires 100% attendance. Emergency First Aid with CPR/AED Level C (14+ years) Basic one-day course offering lifesaving first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for the workplace or home. The course meets legislation requirements for provincial/ territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines. Meets requirements for Occupational First Aid Level 1 for workplace occupational first aid attendants under the Health and Safety Regulations.
