Students in grades K4-5 will utilize an iPad/Chromebook as a means of enhancing their educationalexperience. PillowAcademystrivestoprovideappropriateandadequate technologytosupportinstructionalpurposes. Eachstudentwillberequiredtousethedeviceasa learningtool. Theuseoftheschoolissueddevicebystudentsisnotoptional. An important component of our technology program will be education about appropriate online behaviors. Cyber-safetyruleswillbereviewedwithstudentsfrequentlythroughoutthecourseof the year and will offer reminders and reinforcement about safe online behaviors. In addition to the rules outlined in PA’s technology policies, students will be expected to comply with all classroom and school rules while using school issued devices. By deploying a filtering system, PA will make every effort to protect students and teachers from any misuses or abuses as a result of their experience with an informational service. . Guidelines ● Students must adhere to the Student Handbook, Acceptable Use Policy and all Board Policies, particularly Internet Acceptable Use. ● Each teacher has the discretion to allow and regulate the use of school issued devices in the classroom and on specific projects. Students must comply with teachers’ requests to shut down the computer, close the screen, or put away the device. • Students acknowledge that the school’s network filters will be applied to one’s connection to the internet and will not attempt to bypass them via “Hotspots” or other methods. ● Devices may not be used to cheat on assignments, quizzes, or tests or for non-instructional purposes (such as making personal phone calls and text messaging). ● Students may not use devices to record, transmit, or post photographic images or video of a person or persons on campus during school hours or during school activities, unless otherwise allowed by a teacher. ● Devices may only be used to access files, data, or internet sites, which are relevant to the classroom curriculum . ● Students will not plagiarize works found on the Internet or on the computers at PA. Plagiarism is taking the ideas or writings of others and presenting them as a student’s original work. .
