THE KING’S BUSINESS

he was back at Atlanta, practicing medicine and living for God. “T he street work?” Oh, yes, it is going on in fine shape. The men continue to come here to listen to the Gospel, proving that the “old story” still has power to ar rest the attention of men. Surely we know of no place where more nakedly and defi nitely the Word of God is given than here on “Mars Hill.” Another special phase ot the work is the answering of questions. No written questions handed in this week and answered next week, but direct questions from the hearts of men, caught on the fly; then a quick inward prayer for the Spirit’s leading and back it comes, oftentimes sur prising even the one who gives the answer. Many of the questions throw a flood of light upon the character of the men who ask them, and they are not fools on “Mars Hill,” nor shallow thinkers, though many are blinded by the god of the age. Many of these street meetings are real “Bethels” for men, for it is there they meet God, Who knows how many we shall meet in Glory, who were converted there on the street, or who, through the conviction placed there upon their hearts, were after ward brought to a decision? God is surely working here, but we pray that a real re vival may break down upon us at this strategic and needy place. O ne day last week a Bible woman on the street car met a mother with three little children. Conversation began, with the children’s help, and the mother was found to be a member of the Christian Church, but because of her little ones had been long kept from attending any services and had been drifting from God. A friend who was an enthusiastic follower of “P astor R u s s e l l leader of false doctrine, had been spending much time with her, seeking to in doctrinate her with his pernicious teach-

vious notice to teach an adult class in a certain Bible School. He took up most of the time in telling of a Bible Class he had attended the Sunday before, much to the de delight and interest of the people. As he told of the men, some of them unshaven and coatless and almost all bearing the marks of adversity and poverty, yet with Bibles in their hands, searching the Scriptures, dili gently, the cultured and refined folks of his class, some with tears flowing down their cheeks, said, “Truly God is no re- spector of persons.” This class, which he described, was the “Mars Hill” Bible Class, and you will be just as welcome to come and enjoy it as this.friend was. Pray for the work. S ome say, “Do you ever hear from those who come forward in your meetings?” Yes, we often have cheering experiences of men who, brought to the Lord here, go back home to redeem their past ill conduct, in so far as it is possible. One of these is Dr. ----- of Atlanta, Georgia. He .was surely “down and out.” The worker, of course, could not believe the man’s state ment that he was a graduate physician, and had even practiced medicine, for what with drink and other vices the man was a wreck. But he received Christ and departed and most of us had forgotten him, when there came a letter hearing the joyful news that /''V ne little woman was found who was working long hours for small pay. She was friendless and alone, staying in a cold, cheerless room evenings and Sundays. When invited to the Tuesday night Lyceum Club and assured of a hearty, friendly wel come, she said with a warm pressure of the hand, “You can never know how I shall look forward to it.” She came, found friends and a welcome, heard the message God had for her and is now one of our effi cient helpers among the “other girls.”
