many who do not think it necessary to accept Christ. - As we look at these two jars, we do not see much difference, but wait until we make a test. We will pour some of this blue fluid, which represents the Bible, into each. Jill, who is a Christian, receives it into her heart and life. Jack refuses to keep God’s i Word in his heart. Many'.people are just like Jack Jar, when it comes to . refusing God’s Word. Jack and Jill look different now, | and when sin comes along, the differ ence will be greater. This medicine s dropper has black fluid in it, which we will let remind us of sin. Jill re fuses to keep it in her heart, because her heart has already received the Word of God. This reminds us of the temptation of Christ. When Satan tempted Him, He showed that God’s Word was in His heart, for we read, "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that pro- ceedeth out of the mouth of God” (Matt. 44 ). Notice what happens when sin comes to Jack Jar. He receives it into his heart and life. It would have been much better had he received Christ .when his sister Jill did—then the Word of God would have helped him to resist sin. Boys and girls need Christ as their Saviour, and then they need to hide the Word of God in their hearts that they might not sin against God. LESSON TEXT : Matt. 12:9-21. GOLDEN TEXT : “ And [Jesus] needed not that any should testify o f man; for he knew what was in man” (John 2:25). DEVOTIONAL READING: Psa. 8. Outline and Exposition I, R e v e a l in g G r a c e (9-13) H IS ENEMIES desired to accuse Jesus of being a lawbreaker, and they seized upon the pres ence of a disabled man as an opportu nity to prove their point. They were not moved by the pitiful state of the man, but they knew Jesus would be. Knowing He was ever ready to allevi ate human suffering, in the presence of the disabled man, they asked Jesus whether it was lawful to heal on the Sabbath day. In answer, He asked them a ques tion: If one of them had a sheep in danger on the Sabbath, would the own er rescue it on that day? There could be but one answer to that, hence if they thought it lawful to protect mate rial wealth on the Sabbath, would any of them say a sheep was of more value

Every part of the Word of God is meant to help us think of Him.

OBJECTS: Two pint jars, one filled with gasoline and the other with water; a red cloth; a medicine drop per; a small bottle of gasoline color ed with lampblack ground in oil; and a small quantity of laundry bluing. Put bands of colored paper about an inch wide around the top and bottom of the jars. LESSON: These two jars are so much like people, that I have named them Jack and Jill Jar. They look like twins. However, they are far from be ing the same. People are not different because.of the clothes they wear, but because of the attitude of their hearts toward God and sin. Jill Jar represents a Christian. I will place this red cloth over her to remind us of the blood of Christ which cleanses from all sin. Jack Jar is like

OCTOBER 15,1944 JESUS’ UNDERSTANDING OF MAN G e n e sis 1:27; P s a l m 8 ; 'M a t t h e w 12:9-21

Matthew 12:9 And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue: 10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sab bath days? that they might accuse him. 11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? 12 How much then Is a man better than ■ a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well' on the sabbath days. 13 Then saith- he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other. 14 Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. 15 But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all; 16 A nd'charged them that they should not make him known: 17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, 18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul 4s well pleased: I will put my Spirit upon him, and he shall show judgment to the Gentiles. y 19 He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets. 20 A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth Judgment unto victory. ,21 And in. his name shall the Gentiles trust.
