the crippled man had, but their hearts w e r e filled with scolding thoughts. They needed the Saviour to help them, but they would not let Him. - When they saw what Jesus had done for the poor man, they quickly thought up a question to ask Jesus that might give them an excuse for scolding Hjpi. They said, “Is it lawful to heal on the satibath days?” (v. 10). What they meant was that théy did not care enough for the crippled man to Wish he would be healed, ever! Jesus explained that if One of them had a sheep, and it fell into a deep ditch, that person would lift the sheep out, no matter whether the day would be Monday, or Saturday, or any other day. So He — the1Lord Jesus — will show His lové for people every day of the year. He wants us, His followers, to love others in that way, too. And we will, when we remember that Jesus, loved each of us so much that He was willing to die for us. OBJECTS: Two pieces of paper, 8Vs x l l inches. PEACE, and JOY.” On the other piece o f paper, using the word “HOLIDAY,” c o m p l e t e the following, “BEACH, MOUNTAINS, SELF, SIN, SADNESS, SHAME, and WORRY.” ) LESSON: The two pieces of paper I hold in my hands look very much alike. But I think we can discover some vast differences. The first reads, “HOLY DAY,” and the other, “HOLI DAY.” Did you ever stop to realize that Sunday can either be a holy day or a holiday? To some it is never any thing but a holy day. To others it is nothing but a holiday. We shall open the first and see what is to be found in a “HOLY DAY.” On the inside we find, “CHURCH, WOR SHIP, H E L P I N G NEEDY, GLAD NESS, PEACE, and JOY.” The things mentioned on this paper were found in the life of Christ. He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, with those who worshiped there. He helped the needy on the holy day. Gladness, peace, and joy will fill the heart of the one who follows Christ’s example in the use of God’s holy day. We shall now look into the paper m a r k e d “HOLIDAY.” We read, “BEACH, MOUNTAINS, SELF, gIN, SADNESS, SHAME, and WORRY.” It reads like a leaf from the life of many of our acquaintances. Sunday finds them at the beach or mountains, liv ing for self, and committing sin. Is it any wonder that their hearts are filled with sadness, shame, and worry? his son ask bread/w ill he give him a stone? 10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven ,give good things to them that ask him? 12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Luke 6:39 And he spake a parable unto them; Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch* 40 The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. 41 And why beholdest thou the mote that Is in thy brother’s eye, but percelvest not the beam that is in thine own eye.? 42 Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that Is in thine own ,7:7-12; L u k e 6:39-45;
