blind? shall they not both fall Into the ditch?” (Lk. 6:39). Jesus had in mind the religious leaders of the day who did not see and accept the truths of His teachings. They were leading others, who with them were going to destruction, b e c a u s e they refused Christ’s teachings. As these two needles come to the edge of the table, they fall off because they are both blind. Many people have gone to eternal destruction because they were blind to the teachings of Christ. Here are two other needles. They are attracted to each other, and have eyes, but cannot see. Unlike the first two, these needles allow the strong magnet to guide them. The magnet reminds us of Christ. He seeks to guide all those who will let Him, and when He guides, they never fall into the ditch of de struction. Notice how the magnet lifts Psalm 4:5 Offer the sacrifices of right eousness, and put your trust in the Lord. 6 There be many that say, Who will show us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us. 7 Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased. 8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell In safety. Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, say ing, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word o f. God. f John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. "Rom ans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reason able service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying: 14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. the needles over the place where the others met danger. Boys and girls as well as men and women are like the needles which we have been looking at this morning. If we accept Christ as our Saviour and allow Him to guide our life, He will keep us from disaster. If we reject Him as Saviour and refuse Him as guide, we are blind and will soon fall into the ditch of destruction.

use. The walk of faith always will be rewarded because it is centered in the “God o f ... righteousness” (v. i). Opposed by unbelief and surrounded by spiritual darkness, the believer re sorts to prayer (v. 6). The answer to this prayer is found in gladness of heart, surpassing the gladness that accompanies material success. The answer also brings quiet ness and confidence. The reason for this attitude is the consciousness that the Lord alone can make one to dwell' in safety. Faith that trusts in the dark will find light for all life’s perplexities. II. T h e E x p r e ssio n of t h e M o tive ( L k . 4 :4 ) , The expression of the motive fop- liv ing is wholehearted dependence upon the Word of God. Man may exist with out that Word, but he cannot live with out it. The temptation offered our ] Lord was tp act in independence of that Word. The same temptation confronts all of us. G.
