Foundation. “Considering the principles of the circu- lar economy at the design stage can have a huge in- fluence over how such items are produced, used, and what happens to them after use.” Phoenix Challenge Postpones Golf Tournament With the ongoing pandemic still constraining activi- ties across the country and around the world, the Phoe- nix Challenge Foundation has decided to reschedule its annual golf tournament. The event is one of the primary sources of fundrais- ing that supports the Foundation’s mission of “Build- ing Tomorrow’sWorkforce.” The Annual Golf Tournament was scheduled for Sep- tember 23 in Monroe, North Carolina. The new date will be announced for 2021. With the changes made in response to everyone’s safety, the initiatives of the Phoenix Challenge Foun- dation continue. New educational programs are being created to provide presses for start-up flexo printing programs across North America. So far in 2020, two presses are being installed to create two new pro- grams in the United States.

The five principles espoused by Circular Design Principles are: • Protect brands and products : Designers must en- sure the packaging protects products and all the re- sources invested in them. Damaged products from poor packaging have an economic and environmental impact. • Use no more materials than necessary :Optimizing the use of packaging materials saves resources and re- duces waste. • Design for supply cycle efficiency : Developing an end-to-end approach that considers every step of the way, including storage and warehouse optimization, customers’ factories, packaging lines and the layout of products within boxes for stacking in delivery vehicles. • Keep packaging materials in use :Quality, durability and recyclability are key to keeping packaging prod- ucts and materials in use for as long as possible. This means maximizing the use of the fibers and recogniz- ing the value beyond the primary function. • Find a better way : Challenging ourselves and our customers to develop circular packaging solutions. “Everything is designed - from the clothes we wear, to the food we eat, and the buildings we live in,” said Joe Iles, circular design program lead at Ellen MacArthur
