2020-2021 Annual Report

Dear Levine Community, We are strong, thriving and resilient on the other side of a global pandemic. We were able to pivot our focus inward and become leaders in the region as we navigated the extraordinary circumstances of the 2020-2021 school year. Levine moved forward confidently and prominently on the pathway of its school mission of academic excellence and character-enhancing Jewish learning and values. Throughout this extraordinary pandemic year, where restrictions and disruptions posed significant challenges, Levine weathered the storm and has surged forward to retain its prominence as the leading day school in the greater Dallas area. The four pillars of our strategic plan remained at the forefront of our program: Inclusivity, an outstanding Early Childhood experience, K-8 Academic Excellence in all facets of our program, and Financial Sustainability. As part of our continuous advancement, Levine Academy continued on its path toward accreditation and full membership into our six-state region’s most prominent academic association—the Independent School Association of the Southwest, ISAS. This multi-year process of bringing all aspects of our school program up to the highest standards will place our school alongside Greenhill, St. Mark’s, Hockaday, ESD, and Parish, plus the best private schools throughout the southwest. We are confident that we will conclude this process by the summer of 2022 and receive the required accreditation. We listened to our families and followed our Board’s Strategic objectives: STEM and global education are now prominent throughout the K-8 curriculum; Spanish has become a popular Middle School elective; reading and writing are showing substantial progress in all measures; math and science are experiencing enormous attention and support. Our foundational Jewish values and traditions remain as vibrant as ever throughout the school. We are proud to acknowledge that even during this difficult year, our 8th grade students are moving on to some of the top high schools in the city, making this the best year yet for our graduating class. We worked hard to prepare our students academically and they were rewarded - validating our programing and academic excellence. We could not have made it through this difficult year without YOUR support. Our donors allowed us to protect the health and safety of our community, while we continued to operate the school every day this year to ensure we delivered academic excellence. We rely on you - your commitment to investing in our students, keeping our school on its continuum of excellence, and boosting our importance in the community and we thank you. The road ahead will have unique challenges. Our commitment to all of you is steadfast, because you are our community and the stakeholders in our School Mission. With your ongoing support in our annual fundraising efforts, we will continue to offer a premier educational experience that is a beacon for our community. With sincerest gratitude, A LETTER TO THE COMMUNITY from the Head of School and the President of the Board of Trustees
