week by week and finishing strongly with a number of very good wins to claim 4th. To finish the season a Junior basketball team travelled to Oamaru for a short tour which saw the team have very good wins over Waitaki Boys’ and Timaru Boys’ and a loss to St Kevin’s with Truman Heath scoring 30 points in two of the three matches. Friday night basketball saw College enter 10 teams in all the grades played. At the end of the season College had two teams win their respective grades. The College Senior B side won the top Open Division 1 competition for the first time ever when they defeated Rangiora High School 68–51 in the semi and then Darfield 66–48 in the final. In Division 2, the Senior Grey team defeated Rangiora New Life 61–51 to win their section and finish off a great season. Clay target shooting – SISS and NZSS Championships This winter saw the first fulltime College team practising and competing on a weekly basis. All the team has made great progress and produced some great results. In the local schools’ competition, the College team pushed a very good Christchurch Boys’ High School team hard and finished a very close 2nd to them after a series of competitions. Ten College shooters competed in the South Island and NZ Secondary School Clay Target Shooting Championships 2020 held over the period of 26–28 September 2020. The event was originally planned to be held at the Canterbury Clay Target Club (one of the national shooting centres). However, Covid-19 considerations resulted in a decision to hold the event at six different locations throughout New Zealand. A total of 324 secondary school students from 73 schools around NZ competed in the championships. After three days of competition in a variety of disciplines and tough weather
