Callum, Jamie and Lucy will contest the face-to-face nationals in Wellington later in the year. One of the most hotly-contested debates of the year is College’s annual exchange with King’s College, Auckland, and for the first time in years College wrested the trophy back from King’s. The North Islanders’ were in Christchurch in the September holidays and while their team put forward strong arguments in favour of the USA remaining neutral in the event of an all-out war between India and China, the College team of John-Paul Lay, Angad Vraich and Jamie Yee arguing for the negative, used shock and awe tactics, and managed to persuade the adjudicator that might is right. College also won the subsequent Canterbury Seconday Schools’ competition against St Margaret’s College.
