MARCH 2024
quickly realizing I had bitten off more than I could chew. What I thought would be a weekend project turned into a marathon trial and error session, complete with multiple iterations and countless setbacks. Despite these challenges, I've developed strategies to manage my procrastination more effectively. First, setting specific calendar notifications with recurring reminders has been a game-changer for me. It helps keep me accountable and ensures I don't forget important tasks, even if they're months away. I've also found that using timers and various software programs to track my progress can be incredibly helpful. By breaking tasks into manageable chunks and setting deadlines for each, I can stay focused and prioritize my workload more efficiently. It's incredible how a little structure can make all the difference. Over time, I've come to realize procrastination isn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it can sometimes be a blessing in disguise. Just recently, I put together a presentation last-minute, and it truly did save me time. Another presenter wanted to swap presentation sections, and since I didn’t spend hours preparing, it was no issue! I think I’ve also mastered the art of midnight packing the day before a flight. While my wife may be the kind to have the whole family packed a week in advance, I routinely keep my luggage empty until midnight. Believe it or not, the one time I packed days early, I had forgotten multiple essentials! Of course, that's not to say procrastination doesn't have its downsides. Plenty of times, leaving things to the last minute caused unnecessary stress and anxiety. But I've learned to accept that procrastination is just part of who I am, and that's okay. By understanding the root causes of my procrastination and finding strategies to address them, I've harnessed my productivity and achieved my goals effectively. It's entirely possible to navigate and manage procrastination with the right approach. With a few time management strategies and reminders, we can turn procrastination from a stumbling block into a stepping stone toward success. After all, who says you can't procrastinate your way to greatness? –Kyle Matthews 1 (248) 543-0340
Trust me. I've had my fair share of procrastination mishaps, but after a lifetime of procrastinating, I think I’ve discovered a few ways to manage what seems unmanageable. With National Procrastination Week kicking off on March 6, it's the perfect time to reflect on the struggles many of us face when it comes to putting things off. Let me share a bit about my own journey with procrastination and how I've learned to work with it rather than against it. Procrastination seems to be baked into my DNA. Whether it's a looming deadline or a task I'm avoiding, my body instinctively gravitates toward the one thing with no immediate deadline. It's like my brain is wired to tackle tasks at the 11th hour, believing I do my best work under pressure. One of the biggest challenges I've encountered is underestimating the time it takes to complete a task. Like many procrastinators, I often think a task will only take a fraction of the time it requires. This tendency to underestimate time is something I share with my mom, although she manages her time differently and prefers to prepare well in advance. Looking back on my college years, I can't help but chuckle at how I approached studying. I don’t think I’d survive if I had to do it all over again. I used to attend classes without feeling the need to study extensively, only to realize later I hadn't allocated nearly enough time to grasp the material thoroughly. It was a classic case of underestimating the time needed to study effectively. Lessons From a Serial Procrastinator A Deep Dive Into the Art of Delaying
Even in my early years, procrastination reared its head. I clearly remember attempting a science experiment in fourth grade and
We spend countless hours lying on our mattresses, shaking off dander and sweating through our sheets, but we rarely give them the cleaning they deserve. No longer. This spring, give your mattress a deep and thorough cleaning by following these three steps. Your mattress will last longer, and your sleep quality will improve. STEP 1: ROTATE AND FLIP Mattresses are soft, even if they’re on the firm side, but this comes at a cost: Since we lie on them for hours, they often develop lumps. Rotating your mattress every few months is essential to stem the tide of bumps. If your mattress is two- sided, you can also flip it over. Mattresses are heavy, so don’t hesitate to get help! STEP 2: VACUUM No matter the quality of your hygiene, detritus will shake off. Skin, dust, and other particulates are just part of being human. These particulates gather on mattresses, even if you can’t see them, and can cause allergies, attract bugs, and so on. Vacuum the top and sides of your mattress, making sure to get every surface. As we focus on keeping our homes clean and fresh, one essential item often overlooked is our pillows. Not only is regular cleaning of pillows crucial for hygiene but also for maintaining their quality and extending their lifespan. Over time, pillows accumulate dust, dirt, oils, and dead skin cells, creating an ideal environment for dust mites and allergens. Dust mites are some pretty scary-looking little creatures, and the fecal matter they leave behind can lead to allergic reactions, respiratory issues, and even skin problems like eczema. Moreover, pillows can harbor bacteria and fungi, posing health risks, especially for individuals with weakened immune systems or allergies. SPRING-CLEAN YOUR PILLOWS! Don't Let Your Pillows Become Breeding Grounds for Allergens
for months or even years. Home washing machines and dryers may seem like convenient options for cleaning pillows, but they are not necessarily effective. Pillows tend to clump together during washing, preventing them from being thoroughly cleaned and dried. Additionally, home dryers may not reach high enough temperatures to kill dust mites and bacteria effectively. Conversely, they can become too hot and damage your pillows! We offer the ideal solution for cleaning pillows. Our team has the expertise, specialized equipment, and gentle cleaning agents to ensure your pillows are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized without damaging their delicate fabrics or fillings. We clean, fluff, sanitize, and deodorize feather pillows and replace the cover. As for your polyfill pillows, we will expertly wash and thoroughly dry them. Professional dry-cleaning effectively removes dirt, stains, odors, and allergens from pillows, leaving them fresh, fluffy, and revitalized. We have the skills to address
specific concerns, such as removing stubborn stains or that odd odor to restore your pillows to like-new condition. This spring, enjoy a cleaner, healthier environment and prolong the life of your pillows. Schedule our pillow cleaning service today and rest easy knowing your pillows are in good hands! We put out a request last year asking you to return hangers and were amazed by your response! So many people returned hangers, but we still need more as the shortage continues. Thank you to all who have returned hangers recently! Please, keep up the good work! Thanks for Returning Them! THE HANGER SHORTAGE CONTINUES
While many people wash their pillowcases regularly, the pillows often go untouched

4 Shattering Myths About Growing Food From Food Waste
CAN YOU GROW FOOD FROM KITCHEN SCRAPS? Separating Fact From Myth
Viral videos on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram have spread the wrong-headed notion that you can grow food from kitchen scraps. The idea is to prevent vegetable and fruit leftovers
house as a unique house plant until they grow large enough to transplant outside.
POTATOES Potatoes are an exception — they grow quickly and flourish from scraps. Get a glass of water
from ending up in landfills. Instead, if you save the scraps, you can grow viable plants for renewable produce, which reduces waste and your carbon footprint. However, most of these videos exaggerate the effectiveness of this process and downplay the time and cost. We suggest ignoring those videos and investing time in more reasonable ways to use organic food waste. Here are some ideas.
and stick toothpicks in your hunk of potato scrap. Set the potato on top of the glass so it is partially submerged. Within a week, you’ll have roots to plant outside.
FRESH HERBS If you want to grow herbs from food waste, your herb cutting must have a sizable stem with whole leaves. Trim the end of the stem and submerge the cut end in water. After a week, if the cutting has roots, you can plant it in a pot. So, salvaging food scraps to grow more food isn’t cost-effective outside of potatoes and herbs. But composting and propagating new fruit trees can potentially lead to valuable results from the remnants of your produce.
COMPOST Composting is a popular reason to hold on to
organic scraps from your kitchen. Using a composter reduces the amount of waste you contribute to landfills. This is very handy for making nitrogen-rich soil for your garden.
