ALTIMORE, MD — Jeanette Shaw, AIA, RID, LEED AP , direc- tor of QA/QC and Sustainabil- ity of Houston-based Powers Brown Architecture , recently spoke to more than 200 gen- eral contractors, subcontrac- tors, owner representatives and public building agency officials at the national “Ad- vancing Construction Quality 2018” Conference, hosted by Hanson Wade and supported by the Construction Quality Executives Council (CQEC) and ASQ DCD (American Society for Quality Design & Construction Division) and held at the Radisson Hotel Baltimore-Inner Harbor. Na- tionally recognized for her firm’s streamlined documentation processes for quality control in design and construction, Shaw gave two presentations, “The Ar- chitect’s Perspective: Building a Program for Quality Excellence” and the “Changing the Low-Bid Mentality: Understanding How to Secure Client Buy-in.” “Attendees were gathering around me afterwards, ask- ing why aren’t all architecture firms doing what we’re doing,” noted Shaw. “Quality control is not just about checking B
