Embracing the Holiday Season We Wish You a Merry Christmas
It certainly, for many reasons, feels like winter and the holidays here! The temperatures are chilly and crisp, cheer is flowing through the air, Christmas lights are twinkling and dancing through the night, and sweet, delicious food is cooking in kitchens across the country. The holiday season is one of my favorites, and each year as we get closer to Christmas, I reflect on the true meaning of the season and all of the warm and merry things that come along with it. Each year, I notice a certain lightheartedness in people as Christmas inches closer. Many are focused on spreading Christmas joy, and differences are set aside. During these few winter months, everyone comes together to embrace the season. It’s a fabulous time to get out, interact with others, partake in community events, and embrace each other’s company. And, for those days and nights spent at home, there is nothing better than cozying up near the fireplace with a cup of cocoa, coffee, or hot apple cider and relishing the coziness of your home. The holiday season brings out the best in us all! This time of year, many donate to charities, volunteer to help those less fortunate, help out around the community, and focus on delivering small acts of kindness. I’m always humbled to witness the good in humanity really shining — it truly is the most wonderful time of the year. Most importantly, the true meaning of Christmas and the holiday season focuses on quality time spent with family, friends, and loved ones. Family is everything to my wife and me, and we are extremely blessed with each other, our children, our siblings, and those who are not blood but chosen family.
As I’ve previously mentioned, up until a few years ago, we hosted the holidays at our house. While it was something we truly loved doing, it’s become difficult as we’ve gotten older. As you all know, it takes a lot of cleaning, cooking, and prepping, and entertaining becomes exhausting. Now, my son and daughter gladly accepted the holiday-hosting torch. They live in Eugene, about an hour and a half away from us. However, just because we aren’t hosting doesn’t mean we don’t contribute! We always bring along a few dishes, desserts, and presents for the kids! This year, I look forward to a fabulous time spent with my family, and I am so grateful to have my health and the opportunity to enjoy the festivities as much as I do! As we approach 2023, I’m thankful for another year around the sun and my office family, Diane and Christine, who work tirelessly alongside me to ensure we provide the very best service for our clients. I love what I do, and I’m grateful for you, our loyal clients, and the trust you place in us.
I wish everyone a happy, healthy, and safe holiday season! Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

LOCKS OF LOVE SON MAKES A WIG FOR HIS MOTHER
Melanie Shaha is currently fighting her third brain cancer battle. For 15 years, she’s been suffering from a benign tumor on her pituitary gland. Although she doesn’t mind being sick, going to her appointments, focusing on her treatment, and talking to loved ones about her cancer, she doesn’t like looking sick. If you didn’t know Shaha, you wouldn’t realize she was battling cancer. But this suddenly changed once she lost all of her hair. She had two surgeries, in 2003 and 2006, in hopes of removing the tumor on her pituitary
first, Matt joked about cutting all of his hair off to make his mother a wig. But the joke soon became a plan, and Matt followed through in 2018.
After graduating from college, Matt began growing his hair out. In no time, he had long and luscious hair. His mother tried to dissuade him from cutting it, but Matt wanted to help her feel confident and comfortable in her skin. So, he chopped it off and sent his locks to Compassionate Creations, a hair company in Newport Beach, California, that created a wig for his mother. Now, Shaha has a piece of her son to take everywhere with her beautiful new tresses. “The color is spectacular, and we had it cut and styled with a hairdresser. Matt said it looked great on me. It sure fills your emotional cup,” Shaha says.
gland, but they weren’t successful. Then, when she began radiation therapy in 2017, the treatment caused her hair to fall out. “Not having hair [makes] you stick out like a sore thumb, and well-meaning people can say things that break your heart,” Shaha told TODAY. She didn’t like all the attention and the looks people gave her in public. So, her 27-year-old son Matt had an idea. At

HOW DO THEY COMPARE? Dentures vs. Implants
Gone are the days of dealing with missing teeth — dentures and implants combat the problem. They help you chew, improve your speech, and support your facial muscles. When teeth are missing and our gums are exposed, we are at risk for infections, gum disease, and even bone loss, but dentures and implants can help. What are the pros and cons of each, and which option is best for you? Among the oldest treatments for missing teeth are dentures, removable prosthetic teeth fitted to your mouth. Some dentures only replace a few missing teeth, while others may replace an entire upper or lower row. Sometimes, dentures will replace all of your teeth.
• Due to the loss of your jawbone, dentures may alter facial shape and structure. • Dentures can become loose.
As for dental implants, they are permanently fixed into your mouth with a metal prosthetic root implanted into your jawbone. The very top of the tooth is usually fitted with a crown, which resembles a tooth. Pros of Dental Implants: • Implants are made to last a lifetime and most closely resemble natural teeth. • Dental implants replace the root of the tooth, preventing jaw bone loss. • They are stable in your mouth and can be brushed and flossed, just like natural teeth.
Pros of Dentures: •
Beyond tooth extraction, no surgery is needed. Dentures are more cost-effective than implants.
Cons of Dental Implants: •
•
• Metal plate dentures can easily adjust to changes in the structure of your mouth. • Flexible dentures do not need an adhesive paste and are both odor- and stain-resistant. Cons of Dentures: • They may need to be replaced down the road and can be broken. • They may cause mouth irritation.
Implants can loosen over time, known as implant failure. Surgery is required when implants are placed in your mouth.
• •
Dental implants are more costly than dentures.
Before deciding whether dentures or dental implants are right for you, consult with your experienced dental care provider — they are the pros and can guide you in the right direction, depending on your wants and needs!

The holidays are rapidly approaching, and soon, we’ll share laughs while enjoying the festivities with our loved ones. Before the celebrations begin, you must prepare your home for visitors, especially if they stay overnight. It can be stressful whether it’s your in-laws, best friends, or distant cousins coming to stay with you. You want to leave a good impression, but how do you ensure everyone’s needs are met, including yours? Here are three tips for setting yourself up for a successful holiday, regardless of who stays with you. Stock up on your guests’ favorites. Have you ever stayed with someone who didn’t have extra food for their guests? Don’t put your guests in this situation. Load up your pantry, refrigerator, and cupboards with your guests’ favorite foods and drinks. If you don’t know what they are, ask ahead of their visit! Your guests will appreciate your conscientious gesture and have a much more enjoyable time if they can eat their favorites while visiting. Prepare a guest room. If your guests are staying with you, you need to prepare somewhere for them to sleep. Make sure you make up the bed, have plenty of pillows and blankets on hand, and provide adequate closet space for their clothes. Even if they aren’t staying in a traditional bedroom, their sleeping area should still be ready when they arrive. Clear off a table for them to use as a nightstand and put sheets on the couch or mattress where they’ll sleep. Use real dishes. When we have company over for a meal, especially a large gathering, it’s usually easier to use plastic or paper options — saves on cleanup, too! The holidays are not necessarily the time for this shortcut. Break out the fine china if you have it, or use regular dishes for your guests. It’s okay for the kids to have paper plates, but if you want to make a good impression on visiting adults, nicer dishes will dress up the table setting and meal.
