Just as a supernova starts with a single flash that radiates into a series of flashes, so too does the Octagon Nova exhibit large flashes interspersed with high levels of scintillation through virtual faceting. This design concept leads to a starburst effect, which creates extreme scintillation in between large flashes. This allows the viewer to not only enjoy the Octagon Nova from a frontal view, but as the diamond moves alongside with our finger’s movement, it creates a high scintillation effect on one side while retaining fire on the opposite side, producing a dynamic visual as the diamond rotates. This effect is primarily due to the interaction between the triangular pavilion facets and the crown facets, creating alternating patterns between each large main pavilion and bezel facet. The additional facets on the lower and upper girdle work together, especially in the tiered pavilion structure.
