King's Business - 1912-12

To man was also given rule and do- minion over e a r th and air. All crea- t u r es were subject to him. Man lost his sovereignty,, in t he fall. The won- d e r f ul capabilities and achievements of fallen man suggest the g r a n d e ur of t he edifice before sin a nd death came to mar its beauty and complete its ruin. The Second Adam came to redeem ma n, ma k i ng him a p a r t a k er of the divine n a t u re and life, which, a f t er God, is created in righteousness and t r ue holi- ness. Man as used here is a generic t e rm and includes both male and female. It takes both man and woman to consti- t u te t he perfect image of God, hence t he figure of Christ and His church consti- t u t i ng one complete man. The union of man and woman in wed- lock is t he fittest expression of God's ideal of t he perfect man. In his glori- fied state, man will be restored to his place of authority and will rule and reign with Christ. 9. They went a t once in t he n i g ht threescore furlongs (six or seven miles) to tell their friends t h at He was risen. 10. Tell t he J u n i o rs the meaning of the words, " Ch r i s t" and "Messiah." Did not Christ refer t h em to Gen. 3 : 1 5; 2 2 : 1 5; Dt. 1 8 : 1 8; Isa. 7 : 1 4; 9 : 6; etc,? THOMAS December 22. J o hn 20:24-20. 1. Ask t he difference between "dis- ciple" a nd "apostle." Which was Thomas? 2. How do we k n ow t h a t Th omas loved J e s u s? Jno. 11:14, 15. Greater love h a th no man t h an this, t h at a man lay down his life for his f r i e n d ." 3. Ha ve o n e give t h e circumstances of o ur incidlent. 4. Was it s t r a n ge t h at Th omas should d o u b t? 5. Was it n a t u r al t h at he should d o u b t? Suppose you had seen a loved one dead and buried, and we re a f t e r- wa r ds told t h at he was alive again? Yet Jesus had foretold His rising again; and Jesus, too, was a Wo n d e r f ul One. 6. How did J e s us show His compas- sion f or T h oma s? 7. By wh at reproof was it accom- p a n i e d? See last half of verse 29. Jesus showed His compassion for

T h e crown of God's work was ma n; he was made in the likeness of God's image, his spiritual, moral, and intellectual na- t u r e were like God's. The p a t t e rn is found in t he Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Architype. Scripture tells us t h at Melchisedec was ma de like unto t he Son of God. "Who is t he image of t he in- visible God, the fi,rst born of every c r e a t u r e ." Col. 1:15. "Who being t he brightness of His glory and t he express image of His person." Heb. 1:8. The Lord Jesus says " He t h at h a th seen Me, h a th seen the F a t h e r ." He was the emb o d ime nt of t he perfect God and t he perfect man. He took our form, in order t h at He mi g ht redeem us. Jno. 1:14. The P a t t e rn of t he Tabernacle given of God to Moses consisted of an outer court, a holy place and a Holy of Holies. This corresponds to man, who is body, soul and spirit. Jesus declared Himself to be the Temple of God, Jno. 2:20-2 8, and the redeemed man becomes a temple of God. 1 Cor. 6:19. A WALK WI TH THE R I SEN CHR I ST December 1-5. Lu ke 2 4 : 1 3 - 1 5. 1. Who took this w a l k? Cleopas and a n o t h er u n k n own to us. Cleopas' wife was sister to Mary, and t h e r e f o re Jesus' uncle. 2. Wh a t did they t a lk a b o u t? For they talked as they walked. 3. Who overtook a nd walked with t h e m? 4. Why did they n ot k n ow H i m? (1) He was t r a n s f o rme d; (2) " t h e ir eyes were holden." While He walked with t h em and they with Him, He t a u g ht t h em how to understand the Scriptures. Only those who walk with Christ have their eyes " o p e n e d" to see t he T r u t h. They were perplexed, they questioned, a nd He answered. 5. Cam we wa lk w i th H i m? a n d h ow? 6. How came J e s us to stop a t their h o u se w i th t h e m? He will pass by those who do not u r ge Him to abide.' They e n t e r t a i n ed One greater t h an an- gels, and were u n awa re of it. 7. How came they to recognize H i m? " I n the b r e a k i ng of b r e a d ." Probably as He did at t he Last Supper. None knew about t h at but His disciples. 8. So they " a te with Him a f t er He rose f r om t he d e a d ." Acts 10:41. If we invite Christ to abide with us as if we really want Him, He accepts.
