Summer Activities for Kids Summertime weather is heating up! Kids (and parents) are getting restless. When does school start again? It’s definitely time for some activities to keep the kiddos occupied as we go into the final month of the summer season. There are many different places for your kids to have fun in the Texarkana area, and I’m sharing a few of my personal favorites!

Bringle Lake Park East This outdoor area is shaded by trees and is perfect for the hot days of summer. There is playground equipment for children of all ages and abilities. There are also areas for a picnic, restrooms, and an easily accessible parking lot. You can visit the trail on a walk or bike ride, or use the pier to scout the wildlife activity on the lake. Southwest Center Want to take up tennis this summer? This is a great place to do it. There are four lighted and fenced tennis courts available to the public. Facility hours are Monday 8 am-7 pm, Tuesday through Friday 8 am-8 pm, and Saturday 9 am-6 pm. For additional information including rental fees, please call the Southwest Center at 903-798-3978.

Texarkana Library It’s proven that students do better during the school year when they keep their mind sharp over the summer! A fun way to do that is to promote a love of literacy. Each Wednesday at 10 am, the library has a story time. This is a great way to get your child acquainted with finding books they enjoy that are appropriate for their reading level!

Buff City Soap Looking for some “clean” fun? Your child can decorate and paint a mini bath bomb for free. These bath bombs not only smell great but are made of safe ingredients for the skin. Bath time has never been so fun! They are open from 10 am-7 pm Monday through Thursday, 10 am-8 pm Friday and Saturday, and 12-6 pm on Sundays.

TRAHC Arts on Main Camps Kids in grades first through twelfth can express their

creativity through the arts at these summer camps. There are sessions focused on mural painting and puppet making taught by local artists. Scholarships are available for these camps. See dates/times and register your child at trahc.org .

Holiday Entertainment Center

Bowling is a fun activity to do as a family! Kids ages 2-15 bowl in up to two games per day for free all summer, from 10 am-5 pm, Monday through Saturday. Register your children at kidsbowlfree.com . Rental shoe rates do

apply. They also have laser tag, an arcade, and a full menu of kid-friendly food.
